Watford (A) Post-Match Thread

Much quicker passing, movement so much better than semi final and Southampton games. Rhodri and Cancelo had good games. No coincidence Gundogan didn't feature in last nights game. Noticeably quicker without him. Seems ridiculous to say this but we still had a few more goals in us, Foster did well to keep it down to 4. Felt the ref was fairly lenient towards some of there players

Gundogan didn't slow us against Liverpool when we trashed them 4:0. It's the combo of Gundy and Silva that makes us slow. And one of Rodri and Silva wouldn't fare much better either. The idea to make David captain and start him many games this season wasn't great. But we owe him respect for being an absolute legend, so that was only natural. One of the best PL players ever.

but for the most part gundog is the common factor when we play slow. its like pouring treacle into the midfield

Thought it was a good performance in the main, particularly in the second half when for once we were pinging the ball round at speed as of old. Standouts for me were Cancelo, Garcia, Rodri, Phil and Raz for his first (I really didnt think he could strike a ball as hard as that). Kevin was great when he injects pace and power into midfield but his radar is still off. The player that concerns me most is that imposter pretending to be our Bernie. Really not sure what is going on there.

Gundog was part of our best performances this season: Manure away in the league cup and Madrid away. Add the win against Liverpool too. Silva is more of a common factor in our slow performances, e.g. Wolves home, Manure home, Arsenal at Wembley...But since David is a legend, Gundy is an easy target. Same with Aguero and Jesus. People can't wait to lambast Jesus despite the fact we score more with him in the team and defend better from the front...

Sixty goals in his last 89 starts.
I'm very happy with that.

Could’ve/ should’ve been 100.

Elite level players intuitively know how to stay onside and finish chances like the 1 on 1 last night......did you really expect him to score it ?

He’s a very useful player to have but little better now than 3 yeas ago. If he was going to develop into a elite, world class player we’d have been seeing clear signs by now.

We need another 25 goals a year leader of the forward line pdq.

What a load of rubbish, Lost to Norwich beat LiVarpool, we were just bad at times not necessarily against the top or bottom.
But it's not rubbish is it, we invariably beat the bottom teams excluding Norwich. I should have wrote, sometimes struggle against the top teams/teams who have a well organised defence.

David Silva has always slowed us down, it's just the player he is, he makes up for that in so many ways though

Clear signs? Man of the match in the biggest game of the season so far, Madrid away. Second only to Kun in the whole league in terms of goals/assists per minutes. How many forwards in England are on 20+ goals and 10+ assists this season? 2-3? And all of them have played much more than Jesus.
