COVID-19 — Coronavirus

PM is making it simple for all the idiots out there...

Johnson lives in a separate universe where he believes this will actually happen. The sun's out so he will only need to look at any town in the country this evening to see younger people totally ignoring the advice about keeping their distance. As the night goes on the rules get less and less. That unfortunately is a reality whether people are outside or not. The massive jump in cases in the US is due to people ignoring this kind of advice. Of course they have an even bigger moron in charge. Are we heading this way..?

I have been watching Merica closely over the last while and the over riding aim was always to talk down the threat and get the economy back.

Warning after warning that they were going too fast, too soon, were ignored, especially in red states, where those in charge were more interested in keeping their heads firmly wedged up Trumps rancid arsehole was priority number one.

Today we see where that has led them. The body bag count is set to at least double. The economy will suffer even greater strain and for what? Because a moron who claimed it was a hoax is in charge.

Switch to us, and particularly England, where it's the worst in Europe but the reduction in restrictions was set loose too soon. Again with an eye on the economy, as if the virus gave a single fuck about that. People go mad. Caution is hurled to the wind and today a region with twice the population of my wee place, is on the verge of another lockdown. If anybody thinks it will he the last, they probably think Santa is busy getting in stuff they love.

Even here, bams in pubs have caused a flare up, its relatively small for now, but we are waiting a minimum.if another three weeks to go to the level Engkand are at just now.

Around the world people facing outbreaks are being told to wear face masks at all times when out. That's coming here too. You can take that to the bank. If it's still open, which wont be fir king if we dint get a handle on this.

The Tories, seem to say something that can ge interpretated in many ways, causing confusion. They have been that way from the start and the biggest mistake we made up here was to take these useless cunts lead. Thats gone now. And has been fir months as we could see how Boris is incapable of handling it. They are a fucking joke.

I heard him try to spin that they had done fantastically well. It was just another example of putting a useless lying bastard in power and facing the consequences of that decision.

Who knows where we are headed. But, it doesn't look good and those leading your battle are not worth a single fuck.

Trump and Boris what a team. I hope they manage to contain it where you lot are. I have my doubts and until we all treat this bastard virus with the respect it deserves we will see our death toll double too. Keep safe, wear a mask at all times and avoid people you cant be sure are free of it. Oh, and dont trust Boris. Ever.
We didn’t lockdown early enough or hard enough in March.

Because we didn’t go early and hard, we came out of the lockdown restrictions we had too soon because the virus was too widespread.

From March through April and into May, nobody should have been allowed out other than for food or medicine. We could have isolated the infected a lot more easily and then the economy could have got going again from as businesses could have got going again in greater numbers with lifting of restrictions.

Facemasks should have been mandatory from March. South Korea have sworn by them since SARS.

Despite what the govt said and did throughout this, I followed my own lockdown restrictions rather than theirs.

I followed the Italy model of nobody allowed out other than for food or medicine after one day in April when I went out and saw dozens of people out exercising and not following distancing rules (I did that for one month); and I followed S.Korea and started wearing a facemask in early March (I was getting comments and funny looks and even laughed at, at the time!)

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), between 20 and 26 July there were around 4,200 new infections in the community per day

This is up from an estimated 2,800 new cases a day the previous week.
Is that in Greater Manchester @kaz7

SAGE is not confident the R rate is below one, hence the restrictions

The planned easing of lockdown restrictions has been postponed for at least a fortnight- with face masks to become mandatory by law in all public indoor settings on August 8

It means plans due to come in to force on Saturday to reopen casinos, bowling alleys and skating rinks will not now happen until August 15 at the earliest.

in addition, indoor performances will not resume, pilots of larger gatherings in sports venues and conference centres will not take place, and wedding receptions of up to 30 people will not be permitted, as had also been planned.

Face masks indoors in pubs from the 8th ? Sorry if it’s a stupid question x

Head of Statistics at the BBC says it’s a very good idea from the government.

He’s gone earlier but softer than Leicester which is the best approach.

It’s last night’s communications that have fucked it.
Pretty much agree with this. They are trying to strike a balance and know that they can't prevent infection in the main, but have reintroduced some measures to curtail it. Some "normality" whilst trying to target known situation "hotspots."
Can't please everyone all of the time, it's impossible, and can't close down everything again because it effects the economy horrendously and would ruin public morale.
Communication has generally been woeful though.
