Jimmy Wagg hangs up his microphone on Saturdays after 31 years

He got sacked from GMR, which was a shame as I always thought he was excellent, loved his shows at Piccadilly as well. He set up a website to give his side of the story, was going to link it here, but maybe best if people google it for themselves, not sure where liable laws would stand on this.
Assuming it’s the same James H Reeve, just read some of his posts in Twitter, one of which was “I see they have nearly finished making Johnson’s plane”, next to a pic of an aeroplane tail with the large letters TWA on it

It seems that Jimmy has made his last appearance on BBC RM today. Can barely remember a time he wasn't the voice of the station as far as City home games were concerned. Had the pleasure of appearing on his shows, both at the Etihad and the BBC studios at Oxford Road and Media City.

Be weird, when we finally get back to games, not to be driving home and hear Jimmy say "If you want to chat to me about the game, you've got 30 minutes left so don't hang about".
dont sit there like piffy on a rock bun ring us up

Just like the BBC - Radio Manchester gone to pot

RIP Radio Manchester

All radio is fucked since it became easier to stream what you wanted when you wanted

All stations now looking at younger presenters to attract new listeners but won’t happen and will lose older listeners as people can’t relate to the stations

Jimmy was a normal bloke talking to normal people

His greatest achievement was using the same script for 30 years

‘The Maine Road Mambo’ - 1 step forward, 2 back. ‘Welcome to the Pleasure Dome, where would you rather be?’

‘Date of birth disease’

‘the gods of football’

And his very favourite ‘Sir’ Alex Ferguson. He could weave that name into any non-United subject!
