Donald Trump

I've never seen a political leader insinuate his rival is a nonce, shocking that.
It’s especially galling given the political leader in question is a self-proclaimed nonce.

But that is what Trump does: project his failings and sins on others in a desperate attempt to distract and muddy the waters of perception.

And, unfortunately, it very often works with his ignorant, unintelligent, hateful, gullible base, who appear to be all he cares about these days.

Just in case *someone* needed any more proof that Trump and his camp are attempting to subvert the elections, perhaps words straight from the jack****’s mouth will be sufficient.

The most farcical thing of all is the fact that it’s so blatant. He announces to the world that he’s going to make it difficult if not impossible for many to vote, then he withdraws funding from the enablers of a fair election, sacks anybody that’s responsible for scrutiny and tells us that he won’t accept a vote against him anyway and will use the courts stuffed with his appointees to make sure things go his way.
And still the best part of 40% of the electorate will vote for him. It’s beyond parody.

Trump in telephone 'rally' to North Carolina:
"You can request absentee ballots right now. Absentee ballots are great."

This is obviously different from mail-in voting.

As an aside Trump has triggered Mika on morning Joe again. He's just slagged them both off and she's bit.

I really don’t like sentences like this. Trump called her husband a psycho (having previously called him a murderer many times) and called her a ditzy airhead and she’s called him out. He’s not “triggered” her. He’s been a ****. She has not “bit”, she’s rightly pointed out that’s he’s meant to be the POTUS and where he’s lacking.

If you and I are in the pub and you call my Mrs a VD ridden slag and I give you a slap, you’ve not “triggered” me, you’ve just received the equal and opposite action to your comment.

Thank you. It saddens me that we've devolved to the point where behavior like Trump's is so normalized/expected, that instead of being considered inhuman, its considered an appropriate form of "argument", as if antagonizing one's opponent with personal insults is just another tool in the communications box. But of course it is -- that's what the democratization of the pulpit via technology has done for cowards and bullies. They can either be anonymous and communicate in this way with no consequences, or do so anyhow because they don't care about the consequences. And there are no consequences for Trump -- like the coward and the bully he is, as President he has the pulpit and he can abuse others hourly with no repercussions.

I agree.

He's done it for her to react. To get his ego stroked.

My phrasing was poor and sadly normalises what Trump is doing.

It’s amazing that a POTUS doesn’t have to face Congress ever and take questions like PMQs. They’d tear him apart.

In theory the POTUS is head of state and not really a politician or law maker. But over the years the role has become increasingly political. A bit like if the queen started gobbing off on whatever she liked on a regular basis.

Weirdly - I'd like the queen to give it a go in her final years. I bet she F*cking hates Boris Johnson.

It cannot be said enough:

When they tell you who they are, believe them.

Trump and his various surrogates have and continue to attempt the normalisation of the further disenfranchisement, fracturing, suppression, and disqualification of large swathes of American voters, almost all non-white.

Anyone that believes that subversion of the election is happening on both sides, with the same scope and impact, is at best woefully ignorant of the realities of the world, and at worst intentionally aiding and abetting these efforts.

This is a turning point in US history, in world history, in nearly every regard. And to dismiss what the Trump admin is currently doing as simple “political tomfoolery common to all parties, eras, and countries” is to woefully misunderstand the importance of this moment and the potential consequences of its eventuality.

You don’t have a girlfriend you liar.

And yet if you or I posted what we thought of him. What we really thought and wished for him, I’m sure we’d find our names on a list somewhere.
Although I’m probably already on a list for the amount of times I’ve called him a gobshite. Not even a rambling, incoherent, illiterate, low brow, stain on humanity of a gobshite. Just a gobshite, which in fact is being kind to the m... I almost called him a man.

I’ll stick with gobshite. And to anyone from the CIA or maybe the KGB or it’s modern equivalent monitoring the forum, like I said. I really am being kind here.

I will refrain from my customary sixteen paragraph pontification on the dreadful potential economic impact of Trump’s executive orders, if they can even be enforced/implemented, and just point out that the Payroll Tax Delay EO is tantamount to the extortion of every working person in the US.

He hasn’t elliminated the Payroll Tox for the Sept-Dec period, he has delayed withholding and collection, and has then said he plans to forgive those taxes entirely in January *if he is reelected*. The Payroll taxes are still due. A fact many will not realise.

Ignore the fact that he likely has no power to forgive the taxes, and that he is attempting a backdoor defunding of American social security programs, and just focus on what he is doing in the short-term.

He is setting up a balloon payment bill that will come due in a time of immense financial stress for most working adults in the US that he says can only be avoided by re-electing him.

It is extortion and would end any other presidency.
