Bit of info on the prospective U.K. Japan deal.
Couple of highlights. Hopefully it will add 0.07% to GDP (compared to -5% through leaving the EU).
Hopefully it will gain us entry into the CPTPP which is quite a comprehensive Pacific deal that ironically but not surprisingly would tie us to its regulations, state aid rules, LPF provisions and its dispute mechanism.

At least we won’t have Brussels introducing regulations we don’t want. It’ll be the CPTPP commission instead if we’re successful.

Hopefully it will be equivalent to the deal we already have with them via the EU that expires at the end of the year. I suspect it won’t be as good.

As I recall it can't be better under EU rules - may not even be as good. If it is as good then why spend all that time and effort on leaving to end up back where you were?

We‘re going for the big victory against Japan, chaps. There is a war on stinky cheese and, by God, we are going to win it and boost our current trade of *checks notes* £102,000 to...hang on, is there a zero missing? No? Oh, forget it then. Honestly, refugees crossing the Channel probably smuggle in more than that.

Interesting....

When I went off on hols last week I seemed to be quite a few pages behind

Then the thread was unavailable and now - when back - I seem to have caught up??

Either I have been drinking too much or there has been a need for major surgery?

Do we get to vote in the bureaucrats or are they unelected?

Has Nigel Farage actually come out and said that Brexit will be awful?
Am I seeing that right in YouTube?

I don’t know about that but it wouldn’t surprise me. Farage is a career heckler so will always have to pretend something better could have been achieved

He’ll probably start a new Party(Ltd Company) in the next 6-12 months.....

I haven’t seen it but cannot comment but I remember Andrew Neil grilling an independent remain campaign group for editing videos, getting prominent leave voters to sound like they were saying certain things to implicate Brexit.

It may possibly be that but I don’t know as I’ve not seen it.

Do you have a link?

My opinion now is that Brexit will just dissolve into the mass economic mess that is Covid-19 anyway.
