A fair bit. EU have pointed out where they are happy to compromise, UK have compromised over how the future deal will be governed. EU now waiting for UK to compromise on LPF to match their compromise.

UK want to talk about all the other issues where there is a lot of common ground and agreement. EU won’t talk until LPF and fish are sorted.

The negotiating rounds are pretty much a waste of time as the decisions are now political not technical and it all centres around LPF and State Aid. Basically it needs Johnson to make a decision and that won’t happen until the last minute.

Oh, and we are building lots of lorry parks, the Express has printed a list of essentials to stockpile, and the Scots are headed for the exit door.
Thanks.
Haven’t kept up to date recently with all else that’s going on.
Saw a clip from some EU commission rep on the news in the background who seemed quite upbeat a few days back which surprised me, but I didn’t catch it all.
So was wondering were people upbeat in here, but nothing much seems to have changed in here.

Back to Messi.
Good luck.

Ha ha ha - the idea that we will be able to negotiate our own deals post Brexit - just about every country will be of the opinion that if they made it to the UK they are our problem now

This is a perfect time to offer the same fuck you, to this Dr Charlotte Riley, whoever the fuck she is.

Is that an admission that you are going to blame Covid for all the Brexit damage? We were on the brink of a recession before the virus. But nor is the damage to the car industry, you blame that on diesel (probably the only time you agree with Greta Thumberg). The devalued pound? That's good because it helps exports (but it hasn't, it's just made imports more expensive). The break-up of the UK? That's down to us own-country-haters.

It's a nice try but we don't believe you believe your own crap any more.

(For a once remainer, you've drunk the Brexit kool aid.)
This may help you get to grips with how a currency valuation affects competitiveness

Describes herself as a historian writing a history of britains imperial past. Another self flagalator then - I'd like to thank her for being my conscience and bluethrunthru for bringing us yet another slice of the mental illness of twitter.

No,no,no. This will not do. You are only allowed to seize bad news from the smouldering ashes of brexit. Must try harder - please re-do your work.

To quote from the source you referenced:

As a newly independent trading nation, we will strike new trade deals with key partners across the world, open up new markets and make it even easier for our businesses to meet global demand.‘

How do we achieve this be putting up trade barriers with our largest export market and increasing red tape and administrative burden on our businesses?

Once again - shoot the messenger to divert from the message because you don't like the message. The Home Office video uses unhelpful language and concludes with lies. Just amazing how people like being lied to.

I responded to " The devalued pound? That's good because it helps exports (but it hasn't, it's just made imports more expensive).
Clearly incorrect and shown to be so. Your question has no relevance to currency valuations.

The law can really be an inconvenient obstacle eh ?

You would expect our Home Office to know the law but as we have seen on many occasions our current Government care little for the rule of law.

I'm wondering what that makes them and their supporters ?

I'll leave you to ponder that one.

You clearly don't realise the all-knowing Vic and Bob are not to be contradicted in this manner. They'll probably report your posts :-)

My question was prompted by reading the link you provided and pointing out the gaping fallacy in the conclusion.

Currency fluctuations can help by making exports cheaper and hinder by making imports more expensive, although some exports will require imported materials so, personal opinion, currency fluctuations are a minor factor in the overall scheme of things.

Given you provided the link I assumed you would be interested in discussing some of its contents.

It would be interesting to find out if the volume of exports has actually gone up, or if it's just that they're paid in other currencies (mostly dollars) that convert to more pounds due to the weakness of the pound.
Interestingly, the overall trade increase of 5% quoted is quite similar to the average pound to dollar exchange rate change between 2018 and 2019 which is about -4.5%.

You are just being racist now. Non EU immigration never had anything to do with leave, remain, the EU, or brexit.

The amount of advertising the Leave campaign did featuring dark skinned individuals ‘threatening‘ our borders or Gove sounding the alarm bells over millions of Turks about to enter our country says different.

What, you mean dark skinned people might come here? :-)
