Bacelona would have been better trying to convince Messi to stay.Without using nasty, heavy handed tactics.

Exploiting a pandemic that has killed many people to try and fuck Messi over on his "Free Transfer".

Cnuts trick if you ask me.

If i was Messi i would want out for this reason alone, after the service he has given them

Lousy fuckers.

I think if during the last 2-3 years if Aguero or Silva came out and said they wanted to leave, I'd rather they left the club in a positive way so that their legacy would not be destroyed or tarnished. The worst thing you can do is completely destroy the legacy of your greatest ever player. It would be so sad to see.

Keeping a player like Messi amongst his own wishes - knowing what he's achieved with Barcelona won't go down well with anyone involved in Football. I personally would pull out of the deal if it is going to cause problems between him and the club because it's definitely not the way the best footballer to walk on earth should be treated.

Barcelona eventually will let him leave I'm sure. He's been there throughout his whole career and he's the best player to ever play for the. He's their Messiah.

If he wants to leave, and there's no going back - Barcelona should just accept it and move on. They won't keep Messi forever.

Tell you what makes me laugh... just popped on to have a look on RAWK to see what the Dippers have been saying about this saga and about 80-85% of them have been making every excuse in the book to try and convince themselves he is past it, it would be a bad signing, he is lazy and doesn't press etc.

It is just very, very strange behaviour. If they were linked with Messi, they would be absolutely w*****g themselves silly and probably harping on about how they would win the treble, lets tell the facts here.

I think when fans have to constantly justify that a particular player will be a bad signing or won't make a big impact, I think it shows that these specific people are very worried. It is the paranoia, the insecurity kicking in.

I don't know why people aren't just honest about these things. Just hold your hands up and say what you really think deep down, cut the bullshit.

He is past it, and it is a potentially toxic signing. If City sign him it is desperation beyond belief.

He's their Messiah.

50/50 but if Barca hold him for a season, City will get messi on a free and Barca will end up in bigger trouble than they are now.
50/50? more like 0/100.

If he wants to leave, he is gone. Barca are not going to keep a 33 yr old Messi on the side lines and have to pay him 1m a week and miss out of a potential 50m transfer/compensation.

Barça are playing games, they know they are on thin ice with his contract. The season was extended and he therefore couldn’t let them know that he wanted a move In June as they still had 13 games to complete in the league and were still in the Champions League. Barça are coming over as extremely desperate. It is not a good look for them.
Barca are not desperate, Josep Maria Bartomeu is the desperate one, his head is going to roll for this and the rest of the incompetence during his reign.

Real did it with Bale. But I agree, it's a game of chicken that Barca can't win. We'll just figure out if everyone can call Bartolomeu's bluff.

You've only gotta read the Thiago thread on this very forum to see it's not just the dippers who do this.

The opposite scenario , Bale wants to stay, Real want him out, big difference!

Good point. I'd imagine they still believe they can still change Messi's mind. I'd say it's too late now but 'Messi to City' happening is just as strange.

why can everyone in this thread read spanish but me?
I can’t speak for everyone else...

But for me, do you want the long answer or the short answer?

I’ll need to create some charts and videos for the long answer. Hopefully my mum still has the family photo albums for primary source materials.
