I think even if we do agree a separate fee with Barcelona, La Liga will try and block the transfer to protect their product.

Much in the way they did when Neymar deposited his release clause. We need to see how this plays out, we need to make sure this doesn’t distract from our major transfer business in other areas.

That statement is purely about wanting them srew the money out of us,we get investigated and off we go again,that and barca cant rebuild if he goes for free,nothing has changed really
 
I wondered when Tebas entered the show, no way he can let Messi leave Spain easily. Half the clubs in Spain are on brink of bankruptcy, they can't let Messi leave without a huge financial hit.
I wouldn't be suprised if he had personally caleld Bartomeu to tell him to not sell under any circumstance.

But this will end badly if Barca stonewall for longer. Messi won't be the same anymore at Barca and they are just digging their own hole.

It would be the same regardless, La Liga are trying to keep the crown jewell of their product.
 
It’s as classless as it gets. After everything Messi has done for Barca and Spanish football in general you’d think they’d respect his wishes and wish him well. But no, they’d rather force him to stay against his will so they don’t lose some money. If I were Messi I’d be beyond pissed off at how they were treating him after giving them the best years of his career.
 
Listen there's no rush to sign him, we don't play until the 19th, we can just relax and wait patiently and see how it pans out.
There will be a response, remember Friday night that nobhead off youtube sent us all into a frenzy, this is similar
This to me is the last throw of the dice to keep the face of La Liga at Barca.

Barcelona are pathetic. To think they will somehow benefit from trying to force their greatest ever player to stay for 1 more season at the age of 33, when he is hell bent on leaving. 2 weeks before the season starts. And after he president has said that Messi can leave whenever he wants.

News breaks that suits Barca and we assume it's bullshit, from a bad source or unreliable.

There's going to be good news and bad news, breaking half a dozen times a day, and most of it is guesswork. We might as well just get used to it because this is likely to go on for a while.
 
So La Liga state that the release clause is in force and they will not process the visa process for the transfer?

Well someone interpreted the player's contract differently. Who is right?

Even if La Liga are right, barcelona still have a player who wants to leave. How do they force Messi to honour a questionable employment contract? It will be very very damaging for barcelona to do that.

If it comes to the worst, then City negotiate a free transfer in January and execute it at the end of the season. I don't think there is any way out for La Liga or Bartomeu. They are just being awkward.
