Yes, all we've done so far is resolve being short of the centre half and pacey winger we needed last season.

Wish we were like the rags or dippers who've already got all their business done. Sancho and Werner will make such a difference to them.

Hang on a minute

Who decides in the end who is right and wrong? So now suddenly there is no release clause, meaning he could leave for free? This is gonna go on for weeks.
If not sorted by 1800 tomorrow (GMT), both Messi and Barca have agreed to use paper, scissors, stone to settle it.

Fingers crossed, Messi is on his game

Barca are very publicly being broken here by this and to see La Liga so desperate as well is just a joy.

Certain individuals in Spain deserve no better im afraid.

There is an irony - particularly in the light of what we’ve been accused of. Barca as a club have benefited hugely over from all manner of state subsidies and soft loans for many years. Spanish football has turned a bling eye to all sorts of dodgy deals conducted by Real and Barca for many years... it’s starting to look like Barca are running out of road and there may be a few dark days ahead.

Tebas is an idiot , i just read up on what he said during Neymars transfer to PSG, the guy tried to say that the release clause for Neymar was only for spanish teams when PSG turned up to pay it.

No clause does not mean he could leave for free.

De Bruyne has no transfer clause set in his contract, can he leave for free? no...

So basically there are two options here.

1. Messi thinks he is a free agent as he terminated his contract within 10 days of the season finishing. Barca hanging on the 10th of June, and certainly not entering into the spirit of the contract as it was written.

2. Even if legally Messi doesn't win point 1, it seems the same contract allowed for the release clause to be rescinded in its final year.

So he either leaves now for free, or Barca and City agree a price given it's his last year and he is 33 years old.

De Bruyne hasn’t got a clause saying he can leave for free at the end of the season though. Think the crucial issue is does it it say end of season or does it have a date in the contract. Sounds like it’s the former.

Sorry I meant the transfer fee clause of 700m.

If that is not valid anymore it does not mean he is free to leave.

The other clause of him having the chance to walk for free expired in June based on previous info. Do we know for a fact it did not expire in June?

I think the Spanish legal system is a bit different to ours on this though?

I thought the reason there is always a release clause in their contracts was because by law, it has to be noted how much it would cost to buy the contract out.

If no release clause is explicitly stated in the contract, then the cost to buy it out is zero.

I may be wrong on that, but it’s my interpretation. Maybe @FCBarca could elaborate?
