Nothing to do with underhand tactics, IF we are giving him a percentage of the CFG, you don't think UEFA will come sniffing?
They will be sniffing with or without Messi signing. Why would that make a difference? Is it illegal?

See a few nerves jangling over the last few pages and the usual knicker wetters coming out with the idea that Messi might not be worth it on the pitch, blah de blah.
This is the calm before the storm my fellow bluemooners. Embrace it and then hold onto your hats because its going to get messy.

Does he track back? Will he put up with squad rotation? Will his huge wage get in the minds of our other players?

Disruptive.

Any player that has the power to remove a club president is disruptive.
Messi is hardly the only Barca player calling the board an absolute clown posse. In fact, the entire Spanish footballing nation are saying it. And no, Messi doesn't track back and won't be expected to.

It’s done. Messi’s dad only follows two footballers on Instagram - Messi and Aguero. He must have followed Aguero to privately message him and ask him to remove the 10 from his name.

I’m off to get my number 10 Messi full kit.

Wait, Aguero has removed the 10? Holy shit

What are you on about? Bartomeu is completing his 2nd tenure in a row as president, barely 6 months to go till elections, Messi has not been able to do anything since signing a new deal aside putting up with false promises.

Also, players will understand and accept his wage is high because he is fucking Lionel Messi, not some scrubber joining from a random club becoming our highest earner. If anything, he will motivate the squad, give them that belief that we're the best and we can beat anyone, especially in CL, where we have lacked that sort of mentality.

He will put up with rotation anyway, his body won't allow him to play so many games at a time, that is just logical

I would disagree, I hope I am proven wrong.

A 33 year old Messi , coming to a new league , a more physical and considerably faster league.

Will take some time , even for one of the greats.

how many times has he played against great premier league teams? A lot.

he’ll be fine

But we don’t know how many potential sponsors are lurking in the background. We don’t just rely on Abu Dhabi based sponsors for our commercial income and I’m sure we’d be even less reliant on them if Messi signed. I also don’t think that simply comparing the revenues of Barca and Real Madrid debunk the idea that Messi’s commercial appeal is out there on its own. Sure, Ronaldo is very marketable but Messi is in another league altogether IMO.

Why is comparing Barca's commercial revenue to Real or Bayern or United or City not relevant. If Messi is another league you would see Barca's commercial revenue significantly higher. It is not. These are important data points.

As for our reliance on Abu Dhabi partners, it is something like 80% from memory - the vast majority. There is no evidence that we have a queue of potential sponsors "lurking" just waiting for us to sign Messi. Anyway lets leave it there.

I have no idea, I would think in terms of the Premier league this is unique?

Beckham when he went to the MLS was given the promise of a franchise, that seemed to be ok with UEFA/FIFA.

Did you read the article in the athletic? Explains it pretty well. Right now were roughly 100-140m in FFP profit.
No I don't subscribe any longer but I disagree with that conclusion and suspect it is not including the likely spending this Summer (Koulibaly etc) and you can't look in one year view anyway.

I don't get this whole "more physical" argument. Like opponent's haven't spent the last sixteen years trying to bully and intimidate him. I've seen the guy spit out his fucking tooth at half time for Christ's sake. He does not give a shit.
