So if Papa messi replies ‘ nah mate, he’s had enough of those cunts and is moving to gorton’, then that’s irrefutable evidence.... the video is to a chasing pack of dogs, you throw them a bone now and again!
I watched the video of him arriving and it was one person asking him. It was very calm. Not a chasing pack of dogs on that occasion. There were more when he left the Messi Foundation, but his arrival seemed very serene.

Just look at this way, Messi staying after all this is very bad PR for him.
He will be seen as someone who's not very keen on taking challenges and risks, come to a more competitive league leaving his comfort zone which has been a big criticism of him.
He would have said something in last few weeks if he was really planning to stay, we are playing a blinder here and we come unscathed anyway.
Only thing all of it now lies on is how badly Messi wants it.

Where does it realistically leave Barca for the coming season? No Suárez, Messi god knows in what mindset, other players seemingly out in the cold. Seems one giant mess.

Anyone's guess, I can't speculate at all tbh - I have no feel for what is happening or will happen

No, I don't think Jorge would intentionally mislead. The pendular power struggle looks to have tilted once again back to Bartomeu

I am disappointed that Barto will want to force the player to stay, against his will. Not sure how this is good for anyone apart from Barto

What a mess
Enables Messi to say he loves Barca and back the next president in the elections next year.

I want to see the contract.

We were led to believe he was a free agent in the spirit of his contract but maybe not the letter. His non appearance at training made sense in that context.

However the continued wrangling suggests Messi's lawyers got this wrong.

If and it's a big if messi has decided to stay we should pull our 5 yr contract of the table and tell him it's this year or not at all or the contract is now 4 years but at half the figures first qouted
I'd go further. If he has decided to stay we should simply tell him there will be no further offers for his services.

He does this every year or two.

Bats his eyes in our direction, then turns around and announces he's staying put.

If we were going to risk financial problems on an aged superstar we'd be far better off trying to sign Ronaldo from Juve. And we'd have about as much chance. Not to mention that Ronaldo is now and has been for several years the far far superior player.

It would facilitate a proper farewell, presumably with fans by end of season but I doubt very much he will wade into the presidential elections with any sort of advocacy

what I was alluding to, Trev, is that this still plays out behind closed doors, a flippant comment in public is just that.... I’m not saying he won’t stay, in fact I’ve stated from day one that I don’t trust the whole scenario, however, it certainly won’t be decided by media, like Barca are trying to enforce....

basics of media; amplification, portrayal, panic

Looking at Barca forums. Many want him to leave because they don't want him to stay another year while his heart is not in it.

But the most outrageous thing is that those who want to sell him are suggesting that we pay them: 100m + Bernardo + Garcia. Or 100m + Bernardo and Jesus.

I mean.....how stupid do they think we are?

I just hope were not taking our eyes off Koulibaly and a striker. Maybe a left back as well and central midfielder to freshen the squad up.

I would love to see Messi at City but if this looks like it's not going to work then we should move on sooner rather than later.

I get the feeling he's staying at Barcelona and internal politics have been made public.

What was the actual translation then? Not seen any suggestion it was purposefully mistranslated yet so i'm curious.

From an Argentine on Reddit -

In the video the journalist asks him if they're considering Messi to stay on for another year and he says "No sé" (I don't know) but the video puts the subtitle as "Si" (Yes). I don't blame the journalist since she's from Spain and our slurring can make "no sé" sound like a "sí" if said quick enough, but an Argentinean can tell anyway.

We are told Messi has felt shit at Barca for quite some time. Why couldn’t he have simply said he wanted to leave BEFORE the date in the contract? Why Leo, why? You’d be a City player by now.
Because he had no intention of signing for City.
We've been used again.
A prima Donna, look at me, drama queen who has no business being pursued by gods own club.

Personally I'm mightily relieved if he does stay. They're welcome to him and his hissy fits.
