Just a thought but has Failing Grayling seen this? You know, so he knows what a ferry looks like. Its size would mess with his mind though........his mind? His mind? WTF am I saying ????

In case you didn't notice, the arrogance was oozing from a bunch of French journo's apparently 'Laughing at us.' That kind of thing is fine though, give a bit back, and the huffing and puffing begins.

Not xenophobic, just a similar response to foreigners insulting this country, which is fine,
this country is free, so is theirs, even though their xenophobia is warmly welcomed by EU adherents.

They aren’t insulting our country, they’re insulting our government (who themselves I’d argue are insulting our country)

So - todays ploy - "threaten them with the collapse of the GFA " is dead in the water already ( no pun intended ) ?

A few of these ferries and goods to the continent from Eire and back can go direct - robbing UK ports of massive volumes of lorries. The only trucks that come here are the ones to deliver here - cue huge half empty lorry parks. Meantime anything trying to get into Eire from Ulster is subject to checks at the border which aren't there now and were promised never to be needed? The GFA hits the rocks and calls for a united Ireland intensify - possibly reviving the troubles. Anything we want to send into the EU is subject to border checks too.

If Biden wins then he and Pelosi are on record as saying if the GFA is threatened they won't be doing a trade deal with the UK Govt responsible for it.

Conclusion. When you think you own a border and can't get the concept somebody owns the other side and is not obliged to do what you want them to do at that border just because you tell them to then you end up announcing meaningless nonsense.

BJ often chooses his language poorly, although I'm not sure how much of this is an accident. In this case I think he's doing the right thing. Brexit doesn't mean we are actually leaving the continent or declaring war on anyone, we are simply leaving the political project / trading group of the EU. The way some people talk you'd think we need to start digging in Anderson shelters in the backyard.

To be fair it must be quite hard not to laugh at the visage of David Frost trembling with impotent rage as his big gun is the one he is holding to his own temple.
