Realistic squad for 2020/21

There are two free spaces: Zincheko's & Otamendi's. Plus Carson's if required.

We will omit players if required. We omitted Zinchenko previously then re admitted him. Yaya also, if I remember correctly ?

When zinchenko was omitted, he was very much a fringe player that didn't get aloan move. Completely different now.

I don't believe either him or otamendi would get omitted, no way. Both however Could be sold, no doubt.

He would be a fringe player now, as would Otamendi, if we signed more players.

Can't be more 'fringe' than in a queue to leave.

If we had to leave him out of the CL squad we would do. We have left players out before. Whether we would want so many on the wage bill may be more relevant.

True. for me, completely moot. its like saying, we'd have space in our squad, if we sold players. we'd have space in our squad, if we left them out.

The fact is, we currently don't have space in our squad. Doesn't mean we can't sign any, obviously. but i doubt we would start a season with a surplus of senior players on a wage bill and in the dressing room.

Well we should, imo, if the right players are available. I'm certain there will be offers for the players mentioned.

If they prefer to stay, it's up to them, but they have no divine right to then be in the Champions League squad.

Looking at this, we are short of a full back and attacking mid - I have assumed Zinchenko is going to be sold but he may stay as backup to those two positions ?

I’m also assuming stones, Garcia and Otamendi will go

is this enough to get our title back ? I would prefer us to sign a specialist for the full back and midfield but who would be the names for these posItions ?

Rumours of a false nine type player would also make sense as Sergio is off after next season , this would provide cover for the midfield as well ?
No. We won’t win the league this season.

I think we’ll be 3rd-5th. 3rd being a good season, but a distant third to Liverpool who’ll be miles ahead and Chelsea who I think will be a solid second; 5th being a shit season where de Bruyne and Agüero miss too much of the season (the rest of the squad are not of a high enough standard anymore to make up for the best players missing).

Pep seems to forget that Bernardo Silva plays for the club and that every single time he’s played in central midfield he’s either been excellent or the best player on the pitch. If Pep keeps on forgetting Bernardo plays for us and only gives him bit-part involvement again, we need to sign a high quality central midfielder because de Bruyne and Foden for two positions isn’t enough.

That for me more than centre half/left back/striker/squad player, is the most important position in the team we need to get high a quality in... unless we play Bernardo in there!

But I just feel the general balance of quality across the team has declined. We had the best midfield in the world in 2017-18 with Fernandinho DSilva and de Bruyne. Even with de Bruyne out for much of the 2018-19 season, Bernardo deputised superbly. Now I feel like our midfield is very ordinary if de Bruyne spends any time rested/suspended/injured (because of Pep’s refusal to play Bernardo in there).

I feel like Chelsea have made the biggest statement ahead of the new season in Europe. While we looked very average at times last season yet we’ve signed two squad players.

Considering we lost Silva and Sane in the summer, I'm fairly happy with the look of our squad.
