You really think that’s the point, really ? Fuck me throw a dog a bone and he thinks he knows the universe, I’m sure your happy/frightened but please don’t try and pretend you understand, I’ll disengage with you, I’d hoped for more, but I’m frequently disappointed.

Mate, you've posted on an internet forum more than 36k times in 8 years, rather than bragging about a science degree online I suggest you get some friends and get out of the house more.

That's from the ONS, can't trust anyone with these stats.

That's the original article and the chart is from one the first Excel link.
The stats shown in your link combine deaths from flu and Pneumonia not just flu. Pneumonia deaths arise from a multitude of health problems:- asthma, cystic fibrosis, an assortment of lung diseases including infections and bronchitis just to name a few. Pneumonia is not flu and is generally a more serious health issue. As I stated the Public Health England figures for flu are an average of 17000 pa and that includes the winter months which so far we have no Covid stats for as the disease was still in its 'infancy' until March and the months of May/June were exceptionally warm.

I’m not trying to underplay Covid by any means but the following are worldwide year to date deaths from other things, just by way of comparison.

9,277,227 Communicable disease deaths
349,156 Seasonal flu deaths
5,432,001 Deaths of children under 5
220,886 Deaths of mothers during birth
1,201,351 Deaths caused by HIV/AIDS
5,869,266 Deaths caused by cancer
700,976 Deaths caused by malaria
3,572,499 Deaths caused by smoking
1,787,376 Deaths caused by alcohol
766,340 Suicides
964,000 road fatalities.
Meanwhile, 11,000,000 people die from hunger every year.

Fair enough mate was just quoting what was reported in the press. I’ve seen the average stats and was surprised myself. My Mum got pneumonia from flu believe it or not and her lungs are permanently fucked from it.

Malaria death numbers are crazy, isn’t the drug to prevent this about 50p?

I'm sorry for your mum, but many people who get pneumonia have permanently fucked lungs, and one of the (many) things that covid does is give you pneumonia, amongst other life threatening illnesses, a good reason not to keep playing it down.

Anyone watching question time ? I give my head a wobble with these goons squabbling who’s fault it is .. The fault is governments from all parties have blatantly and blatantly robbed us of our heritage what is the NHS .
we deserve better our families deserve better.
The NHS deserves better.
On a foot note I’ve never seen a more selfish and divided nation than in the last eight months .75 years ago we’d of got through this ( we had to)
What a legacy they left for us to f**k up.
sorry for the rant..

The numbers in hospital now must be a serious worry, England's numbers in the last week are 553, 600, 633, 661, 782, 866, 894, 953, a rise of 400 in a week.

ICU is not good either 63, 70, 74, 88 ,101, 107, 108, and bare in mind some of the early numbers may have died.

We got to take the pain, numbers rising as we came out of lockdown are showing this.
Lock down may well have kept the nhs from not being overwhelmed by the virus, but seems as it was at a cost of other ailments.
Sweden was ridiculed for their approach April and May, their approach doesn't seem as bad now.
