Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Worth looking at up and coming managers in Nagelsmann mold ie Seb Beccacece at IndependentI or Kloh felt at Bremen

They're welcome to him, he won't improve them, just as he wouldn't improve City.

I didn’t say I wanted him here.

On a side note, I can’t believe Simeone is being mentioned. He’s a terrible fit for City. The players would get him sacked like they did Mancini.

If we need Arteta or Nagelsman we will pay what is required. Poch would be third choice for me behind these two. I think he is over-rated. In fact Ancelotti would be better.

Arteta has only been manager/head coach for a few months. He has been impressive, in my opinion. His team plays good football and they are continually improving. He also seems pragmatic in his tactics and set-ups. If he continues to impress, I would be more than happy to see him come back to City when Pep leaves.

It doesn't make him a good one either. Pellegrini is a better manager but I wouldn't want him back either. Same with Mancini. I am keeping an eye on Pirlo at Juventus
Pirlo the Juve legend, why on earth would be consider us if he was successful with them?

What I am getting from reading the last few pages is that anyone except for Nagelsmann would be a no-go. Arteta wouldn't snake and leave before his contract is finished and the others are basically a down-grade. What bothers me is more of how long will Pep take to make his decision more than his decision, either way I would totally respect it. Nagelsmann has already said he likes to watch Manchester City and would like to manage in the PL which sounds like an application for the job. I trust our management completely as all our managerial signings have been good till now, but I hope we aren't wasting this year in the transfer window due to Pep being in limbo.

Thing with arteta is he is judged by different standards
Arsenal have done ok and won the FA cup, but in the league they were rubbish
Let’s see how he does this year

I think we missing the trick here. One way to stop leaking goals is to get a solid defender and a solid defensive midfield unit. who do we have in midfield?

Fernandino - slow. Still good but off his pace.
Rodri - slow. Error prone.

wtf are we not in for a good midfielder.

We spend 60m+ in Rodri just last year. We've Dinho and Gundogan as backup. Need to improve Rodri rather than thinking of spending again in an already stacked position.

Agree with all of that but would he want to come back if he's still doing well with Arsenal?

Probably not. I think his departure while not acrimonious was not entirely amiable and he may not be welcome back. If he felt he wasn't certain to get the job after Pep left he appears to have made the right decision.

I was thinking the same, possibly not for the exact same reasons, - but maybe it will be time for a change?

Hmmm last season you say, runner up in the prem, SF FA Cup, Last 8 of CL, and League cup winners. There was a time not so very long ago..................................................

Love the sentiment, but these are different times, we are matched on a whole new scale.

With our squad last season was a disappointment for sure.

At what point does the club look at succession? Should there be a plan in place now? If not at what point do they need a decision from Pep by? Are they waiting to see the environment post-covid? Is there someone at the club they want to give the reins to? Someone needs to be actively managing this situation or come the summer even managers that are available now, may not be.

When you think about it, this is actually a unique situation. I can't think of any other instances where a managers contract runs down to a final season like this. In almost all situations where that has happened it's because the club hasn't made a decision about the manager. It is odd that it's the manager who's got the power in this relationship.
