I thought it was 53-47 at the moment? Does this not go to the VP in case of a tie?
The VP can break a tie in a SC confirmation.Not sure on a SCOTUS nomination mate tbh.
And Pence will if there is a tie.
Ironically, he previously acknowledged he might have to cast the deciding vote to confirm Kavanaugh when Susan Collins was threatening to vote no... but she ultimately voted yes, after reportedly receiving assurances/favours/threats from the GOP top brass.
