So is your position that if we sell Otamendi and bring in Diaz. We don't have space for another foreign player?
If it is, you are wrong. Unless you want to register Carson in our CL squad. We have been in this position before, where we only registered 2 first-team keepers in our CL squad. In favor of another foreign outfield player.

I'm not wrong. Not in the slightest. You are selective, that is all. You and others are speculating that Carson or another player would be left out of CL. Which IS a possibility, and a logical enough assumption. But, as they are, the numbers are what they are, and we are at full capacity.

I doubt he would be left out. He was included last year, and that was with Bravo on, an experienced keeper. Going into CL with an inexperienced Steffen as back-up , i don't buy that.

Carson could definitely be included in the A list, but it certainly won't be because Steffen is inexperienced. That is pretty laughable actually.

Why would it be? To be fair, neither of them have much experience of CL, but steffen has no top level experience whatsoever, Carson has a lot of experience. Do you really think we would go into the CL with ederson, steffen, and an academy youth keeper as our 3?

My opinion would be that using a keeper on the B list for #3 keeper would be fine, because if both Ederson and Steffen got injured you would be able to add Carson at that point (due to an injury provision in the rules). Carson hasn't played a competitive match in over 18 months. If he is on the A list it's because we didn't bring another player into the squad, not because of the inexperience of Steffen (who has 17 international caps, which is 4x more than Carson).

Of course we would because 3rd choice keeper is never seeing any minutes on the pitch but for a catastrophic series of injuries and if that happens it’s really rather irrelevant who’s in net as we will be fucked either way. What an utterly bizarre train of thought, he’s 25 he’s not inexperienced, and he wouldn’t be our second choice if he wasn’t good enough, the only instance where third choice keeper would matter even an iota is if our first choice was injured long term and our second choice had a history of picking up injuries
 
44.12 Each club must include at least two goalkeepers on List A and at least three in total (List A and List B combined).
 
This idea that we need Carson in CL because he is experienced is nonsense. He won't play anyway unless we are extremely unlucky with injuries. Even then, playing and EDS goalkeeper instead of Carson is hardly the end of the world.

I really hope the reason we are desperate to offload Otamendi is because we want space for another signing.

I am guessing you dont class the Bundesliga or international football as top level.
 
A mate of mine who told me about Ake's planned medical has just said there's one planned for tomorrow. Guessing it's Dias (he doesn't know names fwiw). Posting in good faith of course.

I didn't believe the Ake one as I thought he was in France at the time, so didn't bother posting.
