As we have seen with City and central defenders this past week, we usually have three or four options for most positions!

I fear our season won't get going if we don't sign a forward now.

I don't think there's a lot of hope that they can get what they want for Zin. Personally I wouldn't get too invested in the idea that it will get done, but they are trying.

City's priorities from what I've been told over the next 12 months are a number 9 and a left back.

LB I can understand, but I mentioned in the Delap thread, I personally see the club in a bit of a dilemma with the number 9 position.

If Liam is as good as the club think he is, breaks into the team as a first team option this season and shows he has got regular first team potential, do we then need to go out and spend £100m on an out and out striker replacement for Aguero?

This type of scenario has been the cause of us losing a generational talent in Sancho (our needless pursuit of Sanchez) and I fear a repeat of it if it's 1 step forward and 2 steps back for Delap.

It's obviously very early days at this stage, but if we have another talent with world class potential, I would rather see us give him a good go before we decide to introduce more barriers to him becoming a regular.

If we do manage to land Messi for next season, that would be the obvious solution as he can split his time between the RW and false 9 positions and given his age, wouldn't be a long term threat to Delap's place in the team.

One thing interesting about the Ruben Dias move is how out of left field it came. Not since Bernardo has a move happened so fast. We get linked with Dias Friday morning and one of our reliable ITKs says it’s done by early evening. So we can’t rule our other signings in the short time left in this window.

Have to question our ITK’s when not a single one of them called it til after the event.

Feeling better thanks mate, although my lad still has another week of self-isolating away from school, so work for me is painfully thin.

Messi knows Barcelona can't even afford to negotiate his next contract, even if he were inclined to signing one, which he is not.

Can only see an agreement in January now, once Barca have secured Champions League round of 16.

Christ, it's seriously not that bad. Liam Delap, Raheem/Foden/KDB false 9 will do till Jesus and Aguero are back. We can manage Leicester, Burnley and Leeds in the meanwhile, before international break.
