An agreement in January as in a transfer to us, Messi signs a new deal or Messi signs a pre contract with us?

It will depend on where City are in January.

We are more than happy to wait and sign a pre-contract agreement in January.

However, if we are in a title battle and Champions League round of 16, would expect us to lodge a token gesture bid of £20m.

He’s light years behind KDB but can hopefully get to his level one day.

Doesn’t mean foden isn’t class because he is but to say he’s just as good as KDB at 20 is laughable.

What’s Foden’s stats compared to KDB I’m not sure but his goals assists are not that far away with games played. So not light years away.

£20m seems a little steep. A packet of quavers and a 50p would be enough

Would it not make sense to try to sign someone such as Luka Jovic on a loan to buy?

It strikes me that just a year ago he was the next bright young thing at CF, but has struggled to adapt at Real (who, lets face it, have a record of marginalising players under ZZ).

As we have seen with City and central defenders this past week, we usually have three or four options for most positions!

I fear our season won't get going if we don't sign a forward now.

What I’m getting is that Jesus is out short term, they have been seriously impressed with Delap (as I said in the short close season - I expect to see him a bit this year) and he gives us a ‘shearer like’ presence up front which is different to anything we have currently.

I don’t think we will be looking at a forward until January......
