How good were Pink Floyd?

How much someone sold or how popular someone is isn’t always the best argument.

Lots of great artists sold less than the fucking spice girls for example.

To be fair to Reading they stank the place out in many a fine establishment.

Floyd has always been about the relax. You don't dance to Floyd, you sit back and let your ears do all the work. An aural pleasure. With some cutting lyrics, right kids?

Even though I have tried and failed to watch it before I switched over to sky arts and had a look, pretentious wanker hitting large symbol and other such utter nonsense. Utter wankfest
 
FFS, technical proficiency is irrelevant. If that's how you measure the quality of music, then you can't really get music. The only thing that matters is how good it sounds and Pink Floyd's output sounds (largely) incredible to many, many people.

You don't have to like it; you can listen to whatever to appeals to you. But to dismiss what they have created stems from nothing other than pure ignorance.

Yeah but they were such poor musicians compared to punk bands or two fingered synth new wave bands or monotonous end of the 80’s 90’s Joy Divisionesque etc etc etc. bands.

You sound like I've upset you.
Don't take it personally.
I just don't like Pink Floyd. It's not about record sales. The Spice Girls sold a lot too, so did Phil Collins and Simply Red :)

It doesn't matter to me whether you appreciate the 3 bands I mentioned, music is subjective.
This isn't a 'my band is better than your band pissing contest'.

But if someone starts a thread asking how good were Pink Floyd they shouldn't expect pages and pages of only positive replies.
 
Sky Arts did a great job last night. Running PULSE followed by Us + Them demonstrated where the real creative talent lay in the band. Roger Waters/Us + Them was outstanding.
