The club seemed to be embarrassed to spend big money, to go out and buy the very best, how different to the time under Mancini.

We bought the best players and from the top clubs, taking their best assets and weakening them at the same time.

Why the change?
I mean we've rarely gone and bought out the best/world class option available on market, instead we've done smart business and improved the players we have got in.

Maybe because of our starting point, we weren’t a draw and had to spend big to attract the best. Maybe there’s a feeling at the club we’re more established now and it should be easier to attract players.

I think we’d need another homegrown player. I know Stones has injury troubles but I don’t think we can solve these defensive issues with a tonne of money, rather a change in system or playing more conservative and smart

We need a LB. it’s an area clubs will target until we address the issue. Putting stand in players at LB for the odd game is fine but when clubs know you are playing someone who isn’t a specialist full back there they will get at you. Both Delph and Zinchenko did fine at LB in the short term until clubs started to exploit their weaknesses. It’ll be the same for Ake in time. Watch how clubs push it into the space behind Zinchenko and exploit the fact he’s poor in the air. It’s outrageous that we are contemplating going into a full season with Mendy as first choice LB - whether he was ever good enough, I don’t know but post injuries he’s shot and isn’t good enough going forward or backwards. He needs to be offloaded and replaced ASAP.

We have not, we now compromise, we replace high class players with decent players.

We have not replaced Fern, Kompany, Yaya or Sane with equal or better players.

We have a major issue, manchester, always difficult to attract the top players to the City, so we have to make sure they are well rewarded.

We also have failed when it comes to marketing this wonderful club, we have allowed the press and media to belittle us, why is that?

Is that a result or our owners culture? Because the constant abuse our club gets should have been stopped long ago by our execs!

I totally get the behaving like a more mature club and not being taken for a ride. Walking away from a few deals has been the right thing to do. For me it’s not just about the fees it’s the type of player we have gone for. Yaya, Tevez, Kun, Kompany, Zabaleta, Fern and even David Silva were all mentally strong winners, people who were comfortable on the biggest stage who had bottle and fight. At the moment we seem mentally weak, fragile, lacking character... it’s almost like Pep has fashioned a team of sycophants who all look to him, we have no leaders on the pitch, no decenting voices - would you want to go into battle with Stones, Mahrez, Zinchenko or Rodri.... I wouldn’t. The whole culture of the team is a bit anonymous and absent - where are the lions? Pep from day one demanded total control and he’s got it but we seem to have lost something... we have lost our character, our fight and our ability to impose and bully teams.

Exactly, does that come from the owner or the Barca boys?
I'd imagine the owner brought the Barca clan on board to enable us to have pep and hope he would bring the best out players rather than spending hundreds of millions a year on transfers. Unfortunately it hasn't worked that way.

Since signing KDB/laporte it seems we haven't signed a decent player, everyone has arrived and not done anything special at all.

We've needed a forward for years, Jesus isn't upto filling the role when aguero is injured which is happening more and more. Playing this false number 9 is a load of bollocks.

I was genuinely excited about the prospect of Messi joining, mainly because it felt like we were finally going for the best rather than being arrogant and thinking that if we go in for a player we dictate the price and walk away if they don't want us, I only wonder where we would be now if we would have secured VVD instead of moaning about price which in the market now is a fucking bargain.

Transfer centre saying that Delap is the real deal & City have great plans for him.
Doubt we’ll be signing a striker

Sané wasn't world class when he was brought in, he became very good and only left then. Same with Ferna, Kompany. Torres and Sané had quite similar pedigree at the same age. We tried to replace Ferna with someone who they thought would be equally great, same with Torres, who in Spain is lauded as their next best attacking talent.

If you expect us to maintain the same level getting the same level of players as replacement, that is quite unrealistic, no team can do that.

And yet the best player in the world wants to play for us...

This must be the most one-sided, rose-tinted recollection of Garry Cook's recruitment in history.

Go on then... I'll bite... Toure, Silva, Kompany, Aguero and Tevez... you name 5 better players we have recruited since he left and I'll give you KDB as a starter.....

Replacing Vincent Kompany with VVD 75 million we would not pay, the player wanted to sign for us, but we would not pay, that and other deals have hurt us badly.

Or could not pay, we cant just spend what we like, or what you'd like.
