Burnley (A) Post-Match Thread

A performance that was essential really, coming off the back of the Leicester result. I suspect we'd have been crucified by the media for anything less than a comfortable win.
Laporte's contribution to the defence and overall confidence at the back is self evident. Torres provided glimpses of what he can bring to the party.
Onwards and upwards.

Dad a Red so suspect he wasn't.

Ohhhhhhhhh

God, that 2-5 must have done a number on me :(
I was so pleased today. Just beaming from ear to ear after the game.

More of this guys :)

Mendy is my MOTM, for the first ever time in fact. Fully deserved after a display of attacking intent, which is the player we bought. Anyway, that moment when he was shackled by three Burnley players but still managed to wriggle away AND have the ball at his feet AND lay off a decent pass was worthy of my vote. More pf that please sir, more.
Yes quite puzzling really, I mean can he play like this every game but can't be arsed usually ?
Great performance.

We must have won convincingly...

on a serious note though; I know it was "only burnley" but very encouraging signs from a lot of it. Mendy's passing and running was much better.

A building block in place for us to push on

I read on the bbc match stats that Burnley only commited three fouls to our twelve, just three fckin fouls!!!! and Dyche is calling the ref rubbish. I would really like to see all teams foul stats throughout the season, I would bet that most teams lowest fouls commited stats are versus us. Dont try to tell me that after a 50/50 challenge that the ref isnt thinking about how much the two players involved have cost, and awards free kick accordingly, the medias tentacles reaching the psyche of the officials right there.
The majority of our players do not fall to the ground on a whim, they do not look to gain a false advantage or,in layman's terms.....cheat.Unfortunately,that doesn't always do us favour as the refs do not fairly award us freekick's or penalise the opposition.

Last night Burnley were a disgrace in terms of play acting, most of their players are a decent size and yet they were falling over under the slightest,or,on occasion, without contact.......Lowton started in the first few mins when he attempted to get a debut making 18yr old booked for a fair challenge - the snidey cvnt.

You would think with a manager like Dyche, who is allegedly something of a hard man,the team would have a bit more respect for themselves.

Inbred wankers.

An injury free, clean sheet victory and an important exercise in building fitness, sharpness, conditioning, rhythm and integration.

A good evenings work with bigger tests to come.

Our opponents game plans have evolved since the Centurions season but ours is broadly the same but with a, currently, less experienced and talented squad.

IMO Pep needs to define different ways of playing cos ‘ one size fits all ‘ is now unlikely to succeed.....look at Barca as a classic example !!

We have to be capable of going more direct, being more dynamic, physically mixing it with teams with aggression and a touch of nastiness.

Barca could mix it when they had Pulyol, Mascarano etc and we could when we had Tevez, Vincent, Zabba, Gaz B and even Yaya ( he picked that scouse ponce up by the throat and shook him like a rag doll at Wembley ).

We are too nice and far to easy to play against for too many teams now.

Mix it up City, let’s have bit more blood and thunder & less soft & surrender !!

Why not?

There are only four trophies that we can win, and the League Cup is one of them.

For 35 years, our victory in 1976 was all we old fuckers had to cling onto, though Dennis Tueart's overhead effort was a bit special.

And if we win it this season, we will equal Littlewoods' record of four in a row and their total number of League Cup successes.

I hate this arrogance among certain City fans that somehow the League Cup is below us, and we should just give up on it. It makes them sound like Klippety.
Spot on - glad Pep does not see it as a 'Mickey Mouse' cup - '76 Final remains one of my best memories

I used to hate the arrogance of the scum and their fans for such attitudes

Anyway great blend of experience and youth - and great performance - which was important after Spurs

Laporte and Bernardo back, Torres and Sterling on the scoresheet. Clean sheet. Mendy rediscovering his crossing ability. Encouraging signs, but the real test is Leeds away.

Well played to a man. No weak links, Fern is so much better than Garcia at cb. Rodders actually played well - good positioning.

Dyche hates divers but it's ok for his own players to go down quicker than ten bob whores.
Have to admit the very early one had me worried especially after Sunday.

mahrez and torres both played and created chances on the left with mendy playing higher up the pitch and making outside runs but on the right walker played deeper sitting in front of defence and hardly made any outside runs , so was difficult
Mahrez is an absolute waste of space, doesn't track back, has no pace and only passes if there's no way he can shoot. What pep sees in him is baffling, and too think we let go sane is just incredible

Torres was good and showed glimpses of quality, but have a feeling he's not in the Sane bracket

Dyche believes they deserved penalties. Dyche believes in flying pigs. Don't be like Dyche.
