IMO this is a nonsense story. Of course Pep loves Alaba but 1. he doesn't want come to the prem AND 2. he's after a monster contract. in excess of 300k a week, closer to 400k. Absolutely no chance that Bayern sell to us too. He'll go on a free next summer.

As I tweeted last night, the offer went in for a left back yesterday. Expectation is that there'll be movement today. Zinchenko isn't relevant to the transaction as far as I've been told. The decision to bring a player in has been made.

That too, among other things. I'm one of those who rates Mendy higher than most and believe he needed plenty of time to recover as fully as possible from those injuries, physically and mentally, but he has shortcomings that persist so we need an option that improves us defensively.
