Leeds United (A) Post Match Thread

It is kinda a good point to win....if you look at it in isolation. But you got to think in the grand scheme of things, if you are content with a point against Leeds you are already conceding the PL title. We still gotta go to more difficult places. This season is tough as it is with the fixture congestion, but the teams have gotten way-way better in terms of quality. Liverpool are not looking like they will slow down any time soon, and they have added Thiago and Jota to that well oiled machine. Arteta has revamped that spine-less Arsenal side that we have faced for the last decade at least. Leicester have improved their squad and Brendan Rodgers has already got Pep's number tactics wise from the looks of it. Sheffield are stronger than any team that went down last season. Everton are flying high currently. Even Spurs and Chelsea have improved their squads with new signings. I'm not saying that we are going to lose against the whole lot but on paper this is at least a 2x harder league to win this season than the last one. I'm just not looking forward to it if I'm being honest.

People moaning about VAR and red cards etc! Haha!

Get a grip - Focus on what’s right in front of you..... we are a slow team, embarrassingly open, defensively shocking, too many players who are poor finishers and to top it all off, this is it. It isn’t going to change. This performance will happen so many times this season.

We are now just a good team. Not a top team. We’ll hopefully get Top 4.

We might beat say Liverpool, then we’ll lose to a Villa.
We lost a lot of world class players and wasted so much money on replacements who are just ok.

What goes up, must come down unfortunately.

As a neutral I wonder about Guardiola's body language. He doesn't seem to give a shit or maybe that's his laid back approach? The laughing at the end he didn't seem all that arsed to me. Am i way off the mark?
He doesn't like this football without fans, and it seems to rub off on the players, they seem so passive it just isn't right.

Well that game just confirms what I already knew-
Mahrez will never fit consistently into this team and generally makes us wealer

mendy will never be the original Mendy we had prior to his injury

why these 2 issues have not been resolved over last month is beyond me - but Until we do we won’t improve

He will never go on record slagging off the team - but, when he looks at the big moments in the game he will not be pleased with the lack of finishing, our full backs taking an age to take a throw in and the three times when Mahrez could have passed to a team mate in a better position. Behind doors he will be more ruthless.

What I saw in the first 20 mins with pace on the wings and us stronger at the back makes me believe we will be ok once Sergio returns. We must only play players who work hard as well - Nothing sums up tonight more than when Bernardo lost the ball, he won it back within 3 seconds whereas Mahrez loses possession and stops running.

Keep hearing about this legendary ruthlessness but then seeing the same issues on repeat. He's not coaching it out of them and we're setting up the same way.

VAR is the biggest con job in football history. Sold to us as a way of eliminating obvious errors, clubs that suffered at the hands of the ‘self-entitled’ teams for years jumped at the opportunity.

It’s real purpose is to create another level of decision making. The protected teams now get 2 chances for a decision in their favour. One on, and one off the pitch.

In the middle hour of the game our effort levels in midfield and especially up front were fucking appalling!

Bernardo Silva showed more desire, determination and quality in a short sub appearance than Mahrez Torres Foden Sterling and deBruyne put together.

After scoring, we had not one single bit of determination when we had the ball in their half. It was two piddly arse pretty passes and then cutting back and passing it backwards or we lost it... and then showed no desire to win it back.

Bernardo showed them all up today.

I don't think we are at our full fitness yet, players tired too soon. Some players are not at the same wavelength, noticed Foden and Mahrez didn't pass each other a few times. I'm leaning towards Leeds being great than City being poor.
