Not at all, we don’t need to sell and it’s about time we started playing hard ball too. We wanted Messi and they fucked about so why can’t we? We have it done to us all the time so why let them fuck us over? If it was the other way round we’d be accused of taking the piss and ruining football.

I give Txiki the benefit of the doubt here. He had reasons for telling the Napoli president to stick it. And not ponying up for Kounde. If this is a part of changing the bargaining table... I am all for it.

If this backfires and Barca don't agree to pay what we want, we've screwed ourselves out of £15m for a player that doesn't want to be here and will sign a free contract in January.
We do have bargaining power with Garcia. Koeman has come out and said that he is their main target. Don't think Barcelona should be saving up for 5 million if they are so desperate for him. Whatever bargaining power Monchi had it did not work. We went and signed Dias and we arnt going back for a CB anytime soon now. Garcia and Barcelona obviously have been in talks since ages and hence he isn't signing a new deal here. Maybe it means more for him to set a precedent. We are dealing with some of the same club officers who do everything in their power to bad mouth his club to the press. To take an offer to the board, then show fans and go "LOOK! LOOK! I TURNED DOWN THE SCOURGE OF BIG MONEY FOOTBALL!" You put up with that enough and maybe you do say, "Play by my rules or go home.
