So the UK three nations cases total (without England) today is 2489. It was 1652 last week.

And the UK hospital death total is 35 v 28 last Sunday.

That 28 became 33 in all settings later.

But the current number of Covid deaths recorded as occurring on that actual day (last Saturday) is 55.

About 13% again. So this creeping higher number was referred to by the doctor on Andrew Marr this morning as the key reason death rates are now going up and could accelerate in coming weeks to three figure numbers again if I understood correctly.

Up until the past week or so few over 65s were testing positive. Now he said increasing numbers are. Hence the need for action because it has communicated from the less vulnerable community who have mosrly been catching it up to now into the community where it is very dangerous.

He seemed to feel that transfer was inevitable and nothing much could be done to stop it.

Yeah, sadly I agree with him. When posting these figures a few weeks ago, even within the over 65 age group the number was relatively small in those 85+. Perhaps 3 or 4 in that particular sub category, but now that number is often in the 20s and importantly, still rising - its going to negatively affect the death toll.

I watched that. Extremely interesting and somewhat encouraging.
TB was responsible for nearly 25 percent of deaths in the 1800s. Unbelievable really, but I've seen it for myself when trawling through records in my family history research, which I've been doing for 35 years now.
People had to live with it but they carried on.

I'll tell you what, the government would do well to impose a £500 fine for anybody who dumps their mask in the street - dirty, ignorant bastards.

What goes through some heads?

The pavements are absolutely littered with disposable masks.
Agree. We live next to a country pub and as they drive out, they get thrown from the car windows

this is where track and trace should be observed. We should have local groups performing social service like cleaning up the community, these should be collected from around these premises, then those premises have to hand over customer information and everyone who was on the premises that day gets a fine for the litter, regardless of culpability. That would create a culture to stop it.

Can you imagine #whyalwaysme trending in Liverpool?.....fucking Chelsea fans coming up north.

All depends on circumstances really doesn’t it. Living at home with parents it is very doable. Only breadearner in a family of four with mortgage/rent and bills and it’s suddenly a nightmare.
Quite, im generalising: but then so was the poster who originally said it.

ive found the loudest ones who shout, “dont work, stay in, go on furlough, accept 66% of your wage and be happy with that” , dont actually work themselves so their income just isnt affected come what may

Good luck with that

Are they? Seen about 4 om the pavement in the last month on my travels through gorton, openshaw, Leve, bradford/beswick, ancoats, platting and town.

Maybe your area just is a bit common or disrespectful on this issue who knows, but bit hash to tar every place the same

Cant think of anything more worrying in this whole thing than any groups, of any sort, being organised to watch over others.

also, fining ‘everybody’ in premises? Nope

The whole class is usually treated as a bubble mate, I find that utterly shocking her school have chosen to send home only certain people.

My 13-year-old finished two week self-isolation last week after a girl tested positive on his side of the year.

That was 97 kids sent home.

This week year 13 have had an outbreak. The schools are going down with it every day but it is being suppressed and our teachers being sold down the fucking river.

It's not just the schools, it is grassroots junior football. How can it be that my lad can play competitive district football every Sunday morning, with kids involved from various surrounding schools, scores of parents stood on the sidelines, yet the FA say this is safe? Absolute bollocks.

I hope your granddaughter exhibits no symptoms and will be okay.
A girl in my sons class has tested positive and the whole year group have been told to self isolate for 2w. Online lessons for 2w.

The fall is very good news for everywhere but the North West is still way out in front and has one the smallest of all decreases.

London just 637 - down by nearly 50% from 1174

Midlands 946 - down from 1096

North East 967 - down from 1151

Yorkshire 2003 - down from 2289

And North West 3519 - down from 3672.
