Is that a Wetherspoons?

Given the handing of Covid and todays developments for the North anyone who thinks this is a good idea and we will go from strength to strength come 1/1/21 should really have themselves sectioned without delay.

Brilliant!
Reminds me of when Gillette put out an ad telling blokes to stop raping and beating women, they lost £9 billion.
Way to go, as the septics say.
And telling blokes to stop raping and beating women was a bad thing because....?

Yes, but you are conflating the two issues of Brexit and covid to support your point. I'm sure you see this as reasonable and I understand what you are saying, but when the govt try to do the same in Jan (I'm pretty sure they will btw) in order to excuse / defend their ineptitude I suspect you will want the two issues to be seen in isolation then.

Simply - if this had been a Labour government implementing Brexit - quite a few of the more frequent posters would be of the opposite opinions to what they post now

They simply cannot get into their heads that Brexit should be for several generations during which numerous governments well be in power

Why would it do that?

If that’s how convoluted your thought processes are it’s no surprise you think Brexit’s a great idea.

How many have you beaten and raped lately?
Advertising that attacks half the population, isn’t exactly effective, as Gillette found out.
Is this ad actually real by the way?

Interesting prog on radio 4 "across the red line" about balance e.g. having to balance an interview with someone who knows what they're talking about with an interview with someone who doesn't.

Side issue: In a world of untruth, journalists as purveyors of misinformation (and people ready to hear it).

Brexit is done. Isn't it? England struggling to live up to the lies that did it will be here for a while.

I can't bring myself to think it would be politically possible for Labour to have a policy to rejoin, as that wouid only be likely if the economic damage (and societal damage) is even worse than I fear.

How is attacking men that rape and beat attacking half the population?
Yeah, that sort of belief is the reason why Gillette's campaign bombed.

You're basically stating that Gillette were appealing to rapists, because the alternative is assuming that every single man has a default setting that is one of being a rapist, as if it takes a superhuman effort for us all not to be.

I didn't understand that, maybe just as well, as it's all rather peripheral. Let's stick to the half of the population who decided to beat up the whole country.

Sounds like too much overthinking to me.

On Gillette's part, you're correct. They 'addressed' an issue by saying men 'should do better'.

We already are, thanks, unless Gillette's opinion is that all men are rapists. Seeing the problem yet? Because the public did, hence the backlash.
