There’s some bollocks posted in here. “We look better since he came off”. Fucking hell he got an assist and a goal to bring us from 0 1 to 2 1, and then Porto had to stop playing so defensively and of course the game opened up. Also Foden and Torres did very very well. This constant slagging of a player regularly played by Pep and Low (yeah what have those 2 ever achieved in football) is FUCKING PATHETIC

Same old arse holes , with same old shite , they need to get a life.

He was OK.

He's 5/6 games behind the rest of the squad so I never expected him to be match-sharp, and was definitely surprised when Pep put him in a midfield 2 because at full fitness he's never going to excel there, but Porto were so defensive it didn't matter.

Great goal, he should get more involved in free kicks.

Our second best free kick taker from that position.

Yup.

Gundo is one of the most technically able players in the squad, as he demonstrated with his goal, which, as you point out, changed the game.

I’m not sure what him being picked by Germany has to do with anything, they’ve been poor for a few years now and a lot of fans want Löw replaced. And how does Sterling being fouled count as a Gundogan assist?

Who won the fucking ball for the penalty. Yeah Germany are completely fucking shite and without a huge pool of talented players to choose from. And how many managers have won a World Cup? Fucking hell

Classy player. Much maligned on here
Says more about the people who malign him, than the player himself. Pep knows a fucking damn site more than the moaning muppets on here. Some people have to slag players off, seemingly it’s the only way they can function, it’s always been that way, strange fucking weirdos

Gundo is fine, he just shouldn’t be playing alongside Rodri.

The issue is Pep lining them up together as our midfield suffers from a massive lack of energy and dynamism and it’s always glaring.

One or the other, not both and the sooner Pep can finally realise this, the better off we will be this season.

I think it is going to take an injury to Rodri for him to be dropped from that deep position.

especially now silva has gone, gundogan will probably end up sharing the further forward role with Bernardo on rotation

Deschamps has won a World Cup and selects Pogba for pretty much every France match. And Germany have been shit recently, they went out in the Group Stage of the last World Cup and finished bottom of their Nations League group too.

Fantastic free kick but don't want to see him at #8 again. He's not good enough to play there and it doesn't fit his qualities.

I rate him. He’s no David Silva (but then who is?) but he might be the closest thing we’ve got. I had hopes that young Phil would take over that role but Pep clearly disagrees.

He was very good tonight and seems to have gone under the radar. tried to play two roles in possession when Rodri wasn’t doing his, the only time we looked even remotely like playing the football we have become accustomed to was when he got on the ball. I fancied him from the free kick the minute it was given and he didn’t disappoint. Really good performance, the champions league suits him, going to need him more than ever this season if we want to control games without Spanish Dave.

Nice free kick and he has it in his locker. Felt confident he was gonna bag before he took it. Not a great deal apart from that although he did well with the chance that he nearly scored

Immediately he went off we became much more solid and far more fluid, direct, and dangerous. He lacks aggression and physicality, offers next to no support to the defence, and kills our momentum and pace.

Great freekick, did well for the penalty, but overall.....very poor.

We should definitely never see him and Rodri in the same midfield,as their combined lack of mobility makes us sitting ducks and piles unnecessary pressure on our defence.
