Was he guilty of any of those tonight ??
Yes. Flat footed on numerous occasions, gets dragged out of position for their goal (although that was an allround clusterfuck).

He's the only one trying to play offside for the one on one they had at 2.35 on the link below and has absolutely no idea where the man is. Reads the game well though apparently.

If he was called Eric Garside and not a Pep pet he'd have been fucked off to Girona ages ago.

Don't get me wrong, seems like a nice lad, intelligent, does as he's told, not a dickhead but he's the kind of nice, intelligent lad that drops he wants to leave an hour before our CL Quarter Final. He can fuck all the way off in my opinion.

you have to admire Pepe has made a career of being a top level shithouse.

The first half was very slow and we were picked off ridiculously for that goal, i didnt enjoy Cancelo's performance at all either, he looked very poor. Second half a marked improvement and the pace obviously helped us turn the screw. Not a bad result for the first game in europe but the first half fits a pattern that is increasing in frequency.....

the ref was shit yes, but i was on a 'neutral' website following it and have to say the general comments were that the ref was just totally shit, not 'corrupt' or something. If he was so corrupt, he had ample opportunity to overturn our penalty decision, however wrong you make think it would have been. Many fans on here now see any slight derision or criticism as big media corruption or any decisions against us as uefa and liverpool conspiracies. Not denying some shady shit exists but some people need to grow up.
Some might disagree, but sometimes we miss a player like NDJ, secure services.

It’s difficult to imagine us ever having everyone fit but if we did, I think the team I want is now settled in my mind for the first time this season:

.......................Jesus.......................
Ferran...................................Sterling

...........Foden...............KDB..............
...................Rodri/Gundo..................

Mendy........Laporte.......Dias.......Walker

......................Ederson....................

Rodri v Gundo depends on the opposition. I don’t personally see Fernandinho as a better option than either of them any more, despite the mass clamour for him to play. And it’s a shame to not be able to include Aguero, Bernardo or Ake but on balance I prefer the above players to start. It gives us the best balance and the best pace.

With Ferran inverted, it is better to have width from the full back in Mendy than someone like Ake who doesn’t offer it. Jesus is needed over Aguero for the pressing. Likewise Foden over Bernardo, not that Bernardo doesn’t press, he’s immense, but Foden is our elite presser. Also his link up with Ferran is the new Silva-Sane.

Many posters ignore the circumstances surrounding our games and are desperate to look for confirmations of their daft pet theories about what's wrong with the team.

We are playing every 3-4 days with key players injured out and others coming back from lengthy absences, e.g. Kun and Gundy. Would be miraculous if we played at great level right now. Show a little bit of understanding of what's going on.

Think we are slowly getting to where Pep wants us to be. We haven't seen this team with all our first-choice players available. A little bit of patience is required.

there's no question we've lost bite in the central midfield, no question at all. BUT I think it's risky to have a team that relies on a midfield battler to operate at something close to best, b'cos eventually that player will be tired, injured or too old. The team really should also have a top class ball player to complement it and then be the focus when the battler is rested. I understand Rodri, he's a pace setter, but something isnt quite clicking with him.

I hope we don't see too many games with rodri, gundo & mahrez starting. We are so pedestrian. They all slow play down, mahrez just isn't a team player. If I see 1 more pointless "lash it" shot against a defender because he can't be arsed passing after 15 stepovers causing a counter attack against us, I will end up smashing the TV. The guy sends me insane. He's greedy, he's lazy, he's inconsistent, he's a fanny, isn't a team player and players around him de moralised everytime he lashes it over the bar or against a blatant defenders block. Anyway, walker & dias looked great, bernado playing himself back into form, minutes into agueros legs and when foden & torres came on we looked threatening. All in all passive 1st half and decent 2nd half. Much needed 3 points and 2 wins in a row without playing anywhere near our best.

Mendy??
mid rather have Aguero’s finishing over Jesus running about.

It's exactly what you said.

I think we all know what I meant, and that we can’t play the same players EVERY game. Read between the lines ffs.

Sterling is our first pick on the wings but he still don’t play every game, cup games etc. I want the same for Torres. That’s what I meant. Are we done now?

Yes, Mendy. I don’t rate him, but for balance he is the best bet if we want natural width with an inverted left winger. Ake I love, but he is more of a stay back and defend full back, which has its merits in certain games, but in that scenario, Ferran has to stay wide all game and I want to see him coming in centrally as often as possible. If we play Ake there the ball would just keep going back into the holding midfielder or centre backs. I’d only play Ake left back if we had natural left-footed width infront of him. But post-Sane we don’t really have that.

Not my fault if you cannot convey correctly. Yes, we are done

I switched it off at the VAR penalty check that felt like it was going on for 10 fucking mins.

A win is a win but it's a competition I literally have zero interest in.

Who would have thought that playing Mahrez, Gundo and Rodri in the same 11 would make us slow and predictable? Now that Fern is out, i'd hope he rotates Gundo and Rodri for the same spot and not play them both at the same time. However, with KDB only just returning from injury it means Bernie & Foden are the only fit 8's apart from Gundo. We will probably see more of this, great...

Every game feels like a real slog at the moment and we just have to grind out results. Kun looks like an old man and hopefully with each game he will get his fitness/sharpness back as we lack a cutting edge at the moment. Get a fit Kun, KDB back, Laporte, Jeus back and hopefully we start to look a bit more like our old selves. As for Cancelo, he needs to improve dramatically as that was really bad yesterday on every level.

Id like to see Foden, De Bruyne and Bernardo in a 3. A lot more mobile and a lot more potential to pass forward rather than safe sideways and backwards. Bernie can put it about in a tackle when he needs to if we needed him to sit.
