West Ham (A) Post Match Thread

Yes Mahrez and Garcia the more they wanna leave, the more they will cement their place in starting team.

Wonder if Stones would come out with a comment like he is ready for new challenge would that make Pep to start him?

Can we? Based on what exactly? The amount of points dropped this season or our 1 loss every 4 games average over the last 18 months

based on the number of points & the fact the team have now made up for the lack of a pre season AND we should get some players back from injury.

barca did for 15 years

we are nowhere near a dynasty
No comparison. As Gareth Bale said about La Liga, Madrid and Barca have a handful of tough games a season. In the Prem, every game is tough. Barca had almost an entire team of world class players for years - players nurtured for years by Pep. In the Prem, we have at least 16 clubs owned by billionaires/multibillionaires and some billionaire owned clubs backed by multibillionaires in the background. All Prem clubs have won the lottery. The days of long term dominance by any club are a thing of the past. Look at Liverpool. All their better players are 27/28/29/30. This is as good as it gets for them - probably as good as it gets for the next 30 years. In a couple of years, if that lot stick together, they'll have a team of 30/32 year olds trying to play 'heavy metal' football. They're approaching their inevitable slide. We have some older players close to the end of their time at the top, but this is a surreal season - a lot of strange factors at play. We've lost three bona fide legends recently. The Prem will be won with a lower points total - a total within our and a few other teams' reach.

We've been spoilt. I'd be far more worried if we couldn't make the chances we had today.

So Champions League is easy too? 4 European Cups since 2006 + regular semi finals on top of this.

To denigrate Barca's dynasty in any way is idiotic. They deserve all the credit for it.

and Real Madrid in most of those season were WAY better opponent than anything in the PL. PL is so tight because the clubs can't attract the crop of the cream.

Throw Atletico + Sevilla in the mix too.

Sevilla who has won 6 Europa Leagues since 2005

So which team was able to have a proper pre-season?
The first step to improve is to play Bernardo and KDB in the midfield, but Pep doesn't want to drop Rodri - Gundogan for some reason..

Well we are in a bit of a mess aren't we?

After a promising start at a tough place to go, Wolves, it's all been a bit hit and miss, mainly miss.

There are valid reasons why. No pre season, no proper rest and an horrendous injury record.

For me two decisions keep on coming back to haunt us. Still, after three seasons, not sorting out the left back position and going into seasons with only two forwards who are both prone to injuries. People can say we have Sterling and Mahrez but we see time after time they pass up great chances from good positions.

We badly need bodies back. Poor Dias has come in and instead of trying to form a partnership with Laporte he has a rookie kid who doesn't want to be here. This report if true means he needs to be binned from the squad but stubborn Pep won't do it.

"Eric Garcia plans to resist all of Pep Guardiola and #ManCity's efforts to ‘seduce’ him this season and return to Barcelona next year. Garcia has told friends he plans to return ‘home’ in January or next summer, and has made his decision for personal reasons."

We are in a major rebuilding job and unless we get players back fit and firing on all cylinders soon the title challenge will be over in weeks. Five points behind Liverpool, no guarantee we'll win the game in hand on present form and Liverpool to play soon. We could be 8-11 points behind them if we lose that game.

Players that need seriously looking at as to whether to replace or not are Cancelo, Stones, Mendy, Mahrez Rodri and Bernardo. The last may surprise a lot but one good season in three isn't the level we want or need. Gundogan could be thrown into that mix too if I'm honest. It's too big and it's that way because he players recruited for big money and wages just haven't come up to the standard we thought they would be.

It is what it is but we will probably have another disappointing season by our recent standards and see where we are at the end with Pep and the revamp.needed.
