We can’t rest him. He is the only player in the side who consistently creates chances.

True, it’s like the commentators make out it’s a rarity when he plays stray passes. It isn’t he takes chances constantly so he’ll have games where plenty don’t come off. Even on an off day like today though he still produces moments of magic. The one for Sterling in the 2nd half was pure brilliance and deserved a goal.

Yup agreed. When the passes come off, it's a 10/10 performance. Some games it won't come off. I think that, because Torres is new to the striker role, KDB was trying to figure out some of his runs up front and that may have affected his potency when driving at their defence. But, it happens. He was brilliant against Marseille, it's not a fitness thing at all.

He is a risk player. When you play the ball instantly as Kev does, some aren’t going to work. The day he stops doing that he will be diminished.

He has games like this more often than people realise. The only difference is that instead of creating his usual 6 chances he only cropped up with 2 or so.

In fact he's often had worse games than today but he creates enough chances for you to not notice.


He was fine today anyway, even if not at his best.

Kev needs a break it’s going to be a very long season

Then we'll give him a break when he's actually tired. The guy has just come back from a 2 week layoff and was our best player midweek. Every below par game of his isn't down to fatigue.

the point is with people like Kev you build up a tolerance to them giving the ball away trying things because their overall contribution is so high and you don't want put a muzzle on their productivity.

Agreed but the problem is, we need them both in the side and not in rotation with each other.

People won't like the comparison but he's like the Ronaldo of assists.
