Shit, really? That is disappointing.

It’ll likely go down as the biggest miss from pre-election polling of any senate race this election cycle. Just before the race Gideon was up 4-7 points depending on the reputable poll.

And it means the Democrats now need to run the remaining contested AZ, IL, MI, and GA (x2) races to just get to 50 seats (if I am viewing the other tacking data correctly).

Interestingly, Collins has been teetering near the <50% threshold needed to trigger the ranked-choice voting instant runoff which *might* have seen her get enough second choice votes off of the Independent candidate Savage to win the race.

Of course, the Maine Secretary of State will ultimately certify the winner, so things could still take an absolutely bonkers turn, but it does seem the Gideon camp are confident that they have lost.

I'm not an American but I am dreading the fallout in the states, when you lose elections you lose them and one of the prerequisites for being a statesman is being a statesman.
I am not either, but I am dreading it because I care about my American neighbours and the future of one the most influential and consequetional nations in the world marching toward authoritarianism. It is has already had a negative impact on the world and that impact will only grow and become more severe if Trump remains in office (in my opinion).

I of course also dread it because I have to experience it directly. Though, I acknowledge that I am very privileged in that I could leave in hurry if I absolutely needed to (even if such an exit is substantially more difficult now than it would have been just a year or two ago and there are definitely losses associated with it).

The vast majority of people in the US have no such option.

What’s that all about?
Do we need to worry?
Was going to ask the same thing - been away from the news the past couple of hours so wasn’t sure if some results had unexpectedly gone Trump’s way but it seems the only key result in that time is the Wisconsin one which has gone to Biden

Edit: Trump starting to drift back out again - probably on the back of that Wisconsin result

Yeah just seen that. When they get to 100/1 I might relax.

I've no idea sorry. Just saying what I see. Can only speculate one of two things, Pennsylvania vote not narrowing in Biden’s favour as votes are being counted and/or other people seeing Arizona/Nevada swinging in favour of Trump. All I know for sure is that Pennsylvania won't be needed for Biden if Nevada/Arizona stay on course, so hopefully they do.

Purely guessing btw, nothing based on facts or research from me.

The BBC News presenter on now is very good. Takes no shit when guests come on and talk nonsense. And corrects all Trumps utter nonsense very often. Can tell he’s sick of all the bollocks.
