I feel dirty saying it, but Baconface was exactly the type of manager we needed back then (and for a good while after), say what you want but his "siege" and " you're either with us, or against us" mentality would have been hugely influential in how the club developed and definitely a concept City fans would have gotten onboard with quite readily.
