It's always about the next game ... but this time perhaps it's about the one after this one ...

In the Champions League though we have already qualified for R16, secured top spot in the group as well ... and no result here would change that either way. Only thing riding on the fixture for the club is a win brings in €2.7 million, a draw €900k while a loss brings in nothing ... not sure how much of that would influence Pep's mind though so expect him to rest every player he needs wrapping up in cotton wool for the derby or he would play those he thinks need some sort of rythm going into the weekend ...

Expect a mix of kids ... except Delap!

Team picks itself for me but i'll obviously be wrong :-)

Steffen
Walker Laporte Ake Zinchenko
Doyle Fernandinho
Palmer Bernardo Foden
Torres

Likes of THB, Nmecha, Braaf on the bench

Braaf is injured and hasn’t played for the EDS for weeks so there’s no chance he’ll be involved.

..........Steffen............
Cancelo THB Laporte Ake
........Fernandinho........
...Doyle.......Bernardo...
Palmer...Torres.....Foden

Dead rubber. Pep will put the players in who want to prove they are worthy of a place against the scum.

Be nice to see Tommy get some minutes as well.

We could change all eleven players and still batter Marseille , even at this early stage the focus should now be on the derby game , stuff this one game at a time , we have a week to plan and batter the Rags , we have beaten Burnley and Fulham who are relegation fodder , so we now have to put a mid table team to the sword and work our way up to the better sides like Southampton & Villa.

Think we might save Walker, so Cancelo probably the only player that played today to start.

I think the team we saw today is going to be fully rested for United:

----------------------------Steffen-----------------
Walker/Cancelo--------Ake-------Laporte--------Bernabe
----------------------Dinho---------Zinchenko
------------Bernardo-------------------------Foden
---------------------Delap-----------Ferran

Continuing the 442 (4222) Set-up we have been using

Academy Subs: THB, Doyle, Palmer

Ake and Laporte should both play, yes they are both left-footed, but clearly Dias playing LCB so well and other top players in the world doing this show it's really not a big deal, so I think Ake could do it, or swap with Laporte.

I'd stop with this Zinchenko LB experiment and if we are playing with 2 DMs, then that's a great position for him, he and Dinho can partner there. Bernabe will provide width on the left.

The front 4 picks itself, with Delap as the "main striker" and Ferran playing off him. The 3 academy subs should come on as well at some point.

I'm still not sure if Walker or Cancelo starts against United, probably Walker for his pace, but Cancelo is more of an offensive threat, so not sure.

Steffen, Cancelo, Stones, Ake/Garcia, Zin, Doyle, Palmer, Foden, Bernardo, Braaf, Jesus.
Stones and Cancelo won't play, it'll be Laporte and Garcia (RB), nor will Jesus if Aguero isn't looking fit enough for Saturday, in fact he won't risk him either way, Torres can play there, we don't a win, or even a result. I don't think Foden will either.

I wouldn't go betting on Delap starting or first goal if I were you, you might be disappointed.
