Can you name the 24 teams that have won the old First Div/Premier League?

Missed out on Portsmouth, Preston and Sunderland

Guessed on Ipswich and probably wouldn't have got it, if the hints weren't helpfully in alphabetical order. I've just discovered they won it in their first season in the topflight too, which is pretty unique.

Portsmouth is the one I didn't get but I didn't even know they'd won it, let alone back to back. I'll remember that now though.

Those are two clubs that will surprise a few to be part of the topflight champions list, considering some of the clubs that aren't on it. These days, people act like every club has got a topflight title in their trophy cabinet.

I quite enjoyed that.

Edit: yep. Preston had to seek reelection to the league at one point. And actually being in the Championship at present is, relatively speaking, something of a triumph. They've spent a lot of time in the bottom two divisions over the last few decades.

Add Sheff Utd and Portsmouth to the list of champions to play in all four divisions.
 
Got them all but took ages as sheffield wednesday wouldn't say correct as untill I dropped the sheffield bit

Those of you who got “Get down to the Etihad” (I did, too), did you presumably type City first? I think it would be the reflex for many of us. And that is how it identified us as City supporters. But it occurs to me that a neutral, someone who's club had never been champions (that is, the vast majority of clubs), might well have typed in Liverpool or us first, simply because of the most recent history. And they might plausibly not take to that message. Wonder what the message was to dipper fans? “Don't worry, it's never your fault”…?
Don't know what people mean about the alphabetical order. I just wrote mine down on a sheet of A4, from memory, working my way geographically down the country from the north-east to the south-west, city by city, in my head. Once I'd typed in my 22, I looked at the clues for the missing two, but it didn't do a thing for me. I would never in a million years have got Huddersfield, but I do have a vague memory of having seen Pompey's name among First Division champions. Wouldn't have thought of them, though.
Perhaps would not have got W.B.A., I reckon, but I started reading down the posts. :-)

Typed city first said get down the etihad
Types ipswich said get down tge etihad
