In my opinion Messi coming would boost our revenues over the next 3 years but reduce our chances of winning the league.

I feel there is an unhealthy obsession within the club to get him that will viewed in years to come as a fuck up.

Why would it reduce our chances of winning the league?

I just don't see how a 34 year old Messi will improve us over the next 3 years as much as a Haaland would.

I think the whole thing is a huge vanity project, the thought of him playing for us is amazing but I suspect the reality would be something much less.

I take it you’ve seen the amount of clear cut chances we’ve missed over the last 18 months?

But you do realise Messi is a free transfer, he would make us more money than he would take and would help us in attracting signings like Haaland? If he is as bad as you say he is, he will be on our bench, if he is good he will start.

Question.

Do you think Messi would have scored some of those goal chances we have squandered this season?

Do you think Messi alongside KDB will create more clear cut chances than we are making this season?

If the answer to those 2 questions is yes, then you know we need to sign Messi.

Look guys we all have our opinions & they all should be respected but let's be sensible & reasonable Lionel Messi in a City shirt delivers CFG £mmmmmm
As a business & if you are putting in £m"s as owners then you want something back
Now as part of the project & main sports team of that project Manchester City get to see him play in City blue I will say that again Lionel Messi will be playing for Manchester City still good enough to put the ball in the net & produce assists & this is exactly what we need right now

Our finishing has been fucking pants for 18 months, Jesus isn't the answer & sticking either Torres or Sterling in the middle also doesn't solve it we need a fooking striker we all know that but with say Haaland or Laura Martinez up top alongside Kev & Messi is nothing short of mouth watering

The owners & fans get exactly what is needed

I say 2 years with Messi is worth taking but we need a forward to go with it sticking with Jesus & hoping Aguero will get back fit im not sure
I think the best striker thats been in the English league Mr Sergio Aguero has won its race & dont see him back to his best

Hope I'm wrong but his knees are suffering big time & those thighs are to big to keep him from shitty muscle injurys

Maybe while Haaland is out injured we can get some vibes off him

Guess we will see soon enough.

I mean a decent question for those that don't want Messi would be, how bad does he need to be for it to not be worth it?

Mahrez last season was a player that a lot of people criticised (rightly AND wrongly) and yet he was statistically one of the best players (per 90) in the league last season. You'd assume a less than stellar Messi is still an upgrade on a less than stellar Mahrez. So if he's good we get one of the greatest ever still doing brilliantly in Messi. If he's not then we get a guy that might have issues but he'd still produce the best numbers in the league.

He'd have to fall a real long way down ability wise over the season or develop a serious injury issue for it to not be worth it I believe.

Spot on.

How many of those chances Sterling had yesterday would have ended up in the net had it been Messi? I'd say he'd have had a 1st half hatrick that's for sure.

I am sorry but what would Messi have done against lets say Spurs where they were so deep and compact. He would have to dribble past at least 6 men to affect that game, this is not 2012 anymore and we know messi doesn’t stay wide, which is more reason for them to be compact. And that is how most of our opponents have been this season. He is definitely regressing and should still be better than Mahrez (at least in the final third) but is he what we really need. I feel like we need more pace and power players in our team because it feels like we are dragging our feets when we play

I would still love messi tho but I think our midfield needs work. We need workhorses in our midfield to accommodate him because rodri/gundogan aint it.

Hey, FC Barca, what do you think if this Messi chant? ;-)

(Mario Balotelli chant)

He came Barcelona and we signed him on a free.
Shut up Senior Tebas, dont f*** with Man City.
Ooooooo Lionel Messi, he plays for City, is it a dream?

So because Messi wouldn't have done the business against Spurs in your opinion he's not worth it? What one player in the world would have made the difference against Spurs attacking wise if we hypothetically signed them do you mind me asking?

You say what you think we need but are you really sure you know what we need?

What he has done every season throughout his carrer.

There are numerous videos showing his goals, and his best goals, many against packed defences, who parked the bus.

1 season. 2018/19. All his *51* goals.

Messi can score a goal from anywhere around the goal area,he only needs a second plus all the free kicks he'll get parked buses or not
