Mahrez was dropped for one game after a poor run of form lasting months. He comes straight back into the first team without any public statement and just carries on being Mahrez. During which time one of our best attacking players has sat on his arse for 6 consecutive games.

Meanwhile Stones came in for a ridiculously one sided game v Olympiacos and then from there retains his place in the next two league games plus Garcia makes two appearances. Meanwhile our best defender and league’s second best defender sits on his arse for four games.

There are obviously many on here that don’t see or don’t care about Pep’s double standards but I’ve seen all this before and it didn’t end well.
Guardiola indeed has to be careful. Sane should be good lesson for that. Players of this ilk don't take being benched very well. Its just the way it is + once player makes his mind up about going there is no going back.

Everyone knows, that he would have queue of clubs waiting to pick him up.

Players have the power, no getting away from that.

Also I thought it was extremely poor of Pep to play his favourite Catalan in Garcia who can't wait to get out of here ahead of Laporte against Porto.

Honestly I don't say this lightly but I cannot believe how pathetically grovelling you two are towards a few players.

They don't have a divine right to start games. They came here to play under the best manager in the world, to be part of the best squad and with that comes enormous benefits and certain requirements.

This isn't a democracy, and Pep Guardiola is the king, not your favourite player that you want to start every week. So if for whatever reason the players who signed up to that can no longer take it, then they can fuck off elsewhere.

Sané didn't play because he didn't follow the instructions of the manager. He could have grown up and listened to coaching he was getting from the best manager on the planet, but refused to, so he watched us win a quadruple in 2019 mostly from the bench and then slinked off back to Germany so he could be a bit part player for Bayern.

But there's a second part to how absurd the two of you are being, and that is you don't have a clue how Laporte is coping with the challenge being thrown down to him. Not a clue.

As far as you know he's doubling down, working harder in training, focusing on his game more and is ready to come back a better player.

But because you're so desperate to find something to complain about, instead you're drawing paralells to Sané, despite the fact Laporte has been one of Pep's favourites since he arrived and has a contract until 2025.

So stop trying to dream up problems that don't exist just so you can get hysterical about them.

Cool rant, bro.

Would perhaps be a better reply if you hadn't spent the last 2 days crying hysterically and posting 50 comments whining about how Pep's not playing Foden and Laporte.
As I will continue to do so for as long as Guardiola continues to contradict himself. Now grow up, stop making it personal and have a cold shower.

He isn't contradicting himself.

You're choosing to misunderstand what he says and making a fool of yourself crying about a player contracted until 2025 leaving because he got dropped for 2 weeks.

Mmm have to be careful this doesn't go the way of the Sane situation.
I cannot think Laporte will be in the least bit happy to be benched.

Do you really want me to write another 50 posts? I am not choosing to misunderstand anything, I am using the words that have come from the manager's mouth and his actions with his team selection. I can go over it all again if you like, or you could fuck off?

No, you're deliberately misinterpreting Pep's quotes about picking players in form to make a bullshit argument while trying to convince people that you know who should be picked better than the man who sees them in training 6 days a week.

Feel free to write it all again, won't make it less wrong.

I watch him pick Mahrez week after week so forgive me if I don't feel he always gets it right.

Stones was in desperate need to get some minutes and to have a few games error free to get his dwindling confidence up.
He’s achieved that now whilst showing us all what a player he can be, albeit against poorer opposition.
We now have 4 great options available for a position we’ve been lucky to have 2 of in the recent past.
There’s a bit too much overthinking going on here I reckon. Laporte is still one of the very best about and a patch of iffy form doesn’t change that,
As well as Stones has done, the chances are it’ll be Laporte and Dias who play together most often this season.
You can’t really compare Foden’s situation here. Foden is dropped or anything but Pep’s trying to manage him slowly because we’ve all pegged him as Silva’s replacement but the 2 times he played as no.8 against Leeds and Olympiakos he had 2 of his worst games for our club. Maybe Pep wants to play him more against cup sides and slowly bring him back to PL? I’m not sure but given what Pep has done for our club I’d give him the benefit of the doubt here. We don’t see Foden complaining either.

Something has gone on behind the scenes. Don't forget Laporte has a reputation for arrogance and being a loner.

Whilst Laporte is always in our strongest team, I'm assuming here that Pep is sending him a message and managing him with a bit of tough love. It's not fair to compare his situation with others. Sometimes players need to play themselves into form and confidence and a clever manager facilitates that. Pep has recently done it with Mahrez and Sterling in the past.

I expect Laporte back in the team soon. I'm hoping for Tuesday and then for the derby. If he comes back even better and more detirmined then Pep has delivered. I trust his player management.
