Doesn't Kent become France on Jan 1st?

Have been messaging a former work colleague who lives in Canterbury tonight. He says Kent is not looking good - lorry parks being made, new signage everywhere, he travels for work - as yet they have no idea whether these Kent passports will relate to lorries only or locals who have to leave the county. Plus there are already signs of panic buying - loo rolls, dry food and frozen foods in shops are at much lower levels or all gone.

No - its not that bad but Aldi has no pasta lol..... seriously though he says the last 6 months have almost changed the landscape. As a Leaver he seriously regrets his view now - a man from the Wirral relocated to Kent via IoM and Bristol he enjoyed the garden of England but he says its not the same. Very anti Johnson now.

Goodbye Earl by the Chicks - for those familiar its lining up to be Earl

Well the weeks went by and
Spring turned to Summer
And Summer faded into Fall
And it turns out he was a missing person
Who nobody missed at all

It's for the other thread but if Keith Starmer can break the blue wall down there...

I strongly suspect that the EU are going to let Johnson persist with his Australian bollocks and crash out with No Deal then when the shit hits the fan offer an olive branch of renewed negotiations - at that point we are holed below the waterline and have to take what is offered to keep NISSAN etc here ( if they haven't already signalled they are leaving) and going forward they start looking at us joining the Euro etc.

Johnson will be hoist by his own petard and we will find that trading with North Macedonia, Kosovo and the Palestinian Authority is no substitute for the EU.

Is this aka - EU members being forced into confirming that they will tow the line on EU policies that they are totally against because of the EU using strong-arm tactics ?

If by EU policies you mean Poland and Hungary are against respecting the rule of law, believe in domestic violence against women, and are anti-gay,and anti-Semitic, then yes they are being strong armed by the other member states.

My own view is that they are not being strong armed enough and their mini fascist regimes should be booted out of the EU, but then I’m not a big fan of fascism.

Obviously you have a different take on the issue.

Bless. Vote Leave now realising that they misread the EU for the last four years, despite everyone telling them they were talking out of their arse.

‘Chair of Vote Leave, Gisela Stuart, on @SkyNews: "No Deal is not a preferred option for either side, but the solution is now a political one... We probably need to accept that their commitment to how they define the Single Market is even more fundamental than we had appreciated."

Kent Access Permit is for lorries only. I'm surprised anyone could think otherwise.

It may of course mean lorries queueing up somewhere (on the way to Kent) to get the umpteen correct documents to get the KAP. I presume that's why the M6 will gum up at Lymm junction 20 with the queue along a B road to the customs shed near there (and another next to Birmingham airport).

It doesn't apply to lorries just going to Kent as government guidelines clearly state that lorries carrying out domestic transport don’t need a KAP (so those delivering goods to shops in Dover shall be fine, too). However, there's no official information on how lorries carrying out domestics journeys will be identified, so they are just relying on drivers being deterred by the fines for getting it wrong.

Would that we could fine the people who thought Brexit was a good idea.

No shit Gisela!

Tory MP on QT extolling the virtues of free trade and saying that's what we want. You can't hear the audience screaming "we had that!".

Has she told the Tory ultras that the EU has a viable walk away option and the political will to use it?

Which just represents the level of clear information dissemination to the people of Kent
