United (A) Post Match Thread

My major gripe with this performance was how sloppy everyone was. I think had we been sharper it would have been a much better game for us.

Stones, Cancelo, and Walker (barring 1 obvious moment) defended really well for the large part. I don't think you can single out any attacker in a good or bad way; they were largely the same middling level.

I think Rodri's game will go a little underrated. Fernandinho I guess was picked to defend and he defended well.

About what I expected to be honest. This is roughly where we are in terms of the quality of the squad. Decent defensively for 80 minutes. A few holes started to appear late on, but mostly positive. Offensively, “inert” is the word that I’d use to describe us. Nobody fears our attack anymore. We need at least 15 chances to score one goal, and we’re not creating too many chances.

Whilst Torres did more in 25 minutes than Mahrez did in 65, he was unable to go past Shaw a single time when one-on-one. For me, this is a serious issue that needs addressing. The fullbacks in this league are pretty quick. You need electric pace to play as a winger for one of the top teams in the Premier League. We only have Sterling able to do that, and he succeeds less than half the time.

Poor Kevin ran himself into the ground. If only the other players put as much into the game as he does. I’d be extremely frustrated playing in this team if I were in his position. He deserves to be surrounded by better players giving everything they’ve got. Instead, he is being asked to drag us through nearly every game singlehandedly. That has got to change.

Dull game but another clean sheet. Never really got broken on and that is a good thing.

We had the better chances. Not scapegoating but Mahrez needed to take that chance Kev laid on for him; Kev should have done better with the follow-up.

There are some things to complain about today but City are developing a revised approach and if we keep on keeping clean sheets, lots of wins will accrue.

Positives another clean sheet, but where was the urgency, intensity or pressing. Turgid game where City showed very little ambition or creativity.

I appreciate we were very concerned about their pace they had on the counter, but Guardiola seemed happy with the point which is disappointing.

Yes, it's a clean sheet. And yes; it's a point more there than we managed last season. But that compared to the non performance in Madrid under Pellegrini, and the no show against Lyon in the summer. The three points were there for the taking; utd are really not that good a side. Precious little courage or conviction on show out there tonight.

Well that's two hours of my life I'll never get back. Up at quarter to 4 in the morning, all pumped for a derby that never began. As soon as I saw the line up I thought that was the case.

The idea of Cancelo at left back and the reality are two different things. Cancelo gets forward well, but being on the left he has to cut inside and then he just gets in the way of the attack and when he cuts in it loses all of the momentum. Sterling had a shocker, Jesus tries hard but it's easy to see why we're in the market for a new striker. It's definitely needed, preferably in January rather then June/July. Rodri/Fernandinho as a pair will work in Champions League away ties to maintain a draw, but not in the Premier League. Though Rodri should've won it late with his chance.

It's Kev or bust going forward, and he was crowded out of the game after a lively start.

Incredibly frustrating morning viewing that

My only problem is sterling is off this season , so is mahrez , Jesus is better at creating a chance rather than scoring. KDB is meh. So who will score the goals for us. Get a striker in January if you want to win anything this season City!!!.

Was surprisingly impressed with their full backs especially fat boy Shaw. He had Torres and FFS in his back pocket. Disappointed with Torres I was under the impression he was pretty fast.

Only positive was the two central defenders.

A complete lack of cutting edge and so pedestrian in central midfield. Unfortunately that describes our league season so far.

Guardiola has to change how we’re set up or we ain’t getting anywhere near the title.

Does anyone still rate Rodri?

One of our biggest flaws IMO. Far from a Fernandinho replacement.

We've got better footballers at centre half and defensively and positionally he's all over the place too. Can't stand watching him play to be honest, ponderous and always a step behind.

Couple that with losing David and our midfield is a mess at the moment.

Some of you need to realise we’re not as good as we were. No Dave, Dinho ageing, Sergio ageing and rarely available, Leroy gone, and Sterling not performing. Sorry Riyad, one swallow doesn’t make a summer.

Thank Christ for a bit of pragmatism from the manager rather than committing suicide again. The recruitment is another question.

That was absolutely horrific, it ofcourse doesn’t help that United have turned into a bus parking side every time they play us.
We aren’t good though I’m afraid.

Without fans this game looked like an exhibition game. No bite at all. Everyone mates at the end......weird....very weird.....
