Because they are happy with a point and realistically expect nothing better than top 4. If thats what you expect this year then fine, but they are not a good side and we took zero risks to win that game and that doesnt sit well with me. At the end of the season when we are fighting for top 4 at best, you can jump up and down and cheer our defensive display at a poor united side which got us a point. I for one will continue to call out bad decisions from the manager and poor performances from the players.So the the scum had nothing to worry about so why didn’t they over commit and go for it, seeing they are at home?

So if this much heralded new policy of only selecting players on form, not reputation, is true, then we can expect to see the front three who started that game benched on Tuesday? That’s how it works, right?
Thank you. If we go gung ho and not care about our defence, people would say we were naive and played into Uniteds counter attacking style. United cannot create anything they usually rely on counters but we didn’t give them the chance to do that.I'm surprised at the level of negativity. Until recently we were missing chance after chance and then getting done on the counter. Now we are still missing chance after chance but not getting done on the counter. Half the problem fixed but the other half involves a change of personnel which isn't going to happen until the Summer. In the meantime we have to hang in there and hope Sterling, Mahrez and Jesus score enough goals to carry us into the top 4.
The only problem is we didn’t try to change anything late in the second half and be more attacking. Every time we play United they usually use their pace to counter us, so something had to change to limit their counters.
I still believe this game was a must win but we didn’t play like that. We had to win this game to close the gap.

If we’re trying to finish top 4 it’s a good result. If we’re going for the title it’s not really. I recon peps priority is top 4. I believe Messi is coming in the summer but only if we’re in the champs lg. So it’s all about a top 4 place hence the change in tactics. No way Leo comes if we’re not in it

Pep knows it’s a long season there is 27 games left. You rather us fall into the scums tactic and lose that would put us way further behind than play out a bore fest and get a point?
Risks win games/points
I'd agree with you in a lot of cases mate but my point is against some teams the balance of risk is way too much against us. We keep getting beat by these teams on the counter so in this case, risks LOSE games/points. Case in point today we gained 1 point more than last season.

Having calmed down a bit, it’s clear Pep has addressed the defence. He’s addressed the counter attack hurting us, and I suppose that means you just have to more pragmatic about it all. Having a strong defensive shape is brilliant but you have to be able to put your chances away as well, which we don’t (Spurs are currently doing both) What hurts is that we just never really looked like we could go and score and put the game beyond the rags, which is what many of us expected, and with good reason.
Also a couple of players just didn’t turn up today, and I go as far to say Sterling and Mahrez looked afraid of the ball. Whenever Sterling got close he fell over looking for a free kick. Mahrez, I have no words for his performance today and I think that says it all. There was a lethargy, I don’t know if it’s physical fatigue or mental fatigue but we are a shadow of our former selves for whatever reason.
Only time will tell whether this a good point or not but at the moment we’re more likely to end up 4th that 1st.

Yep it wasn’t a great watch, 2 teams that didn’t want to lose.
I said about a month back that Pep needs to make us hard to beat, because it was so so easy to beat us, we conceded goals for fun.
Now he’s done that, we look solid defensively.
Now he just needs to find the balance, I’m sure once Kev is back to his best and Sergio is back to full fitness it’ll come.
We’ve all said it for months “we’ve been found out”, so something had to change, Pep’s doing that, it may not be pretty at the moment but I’d prefer that right now to getting dicked by soft goals every week.
