People tomorrow will need to remember that the 30,000 plus UK cases now almost bound to occur are not real. And will be caused by the 11 or 12 K add on from Wales that shuld be spread over the past 6 days.

So every day really since late last week UK numbers were under reported by about 2000 missing from Wales.

My daughter did the same today. Contacted yesterday, jab this morning. She was a little concerned about the vaccine but decided it was for the greater good so took up the option.
 
I wouldn't put it beyond this government to secretly have decided to let the schoolkids get it, knowing the vast majority are thankfully not seriously ill with it?

Teachers were asking three weeks ago for schools to close a week early, if nothing else, just so kids and teachers weren't isolating and could enjoy their own Xmas week.

They went for the populist offer of a Christmas where families and people could travel and meet and are now trying to walk it back.

Yet, keeping the kids in school works perfectly for these twats. So many being sent home this week to self-isolate.

My son has over 70 isolating at his school in the last 48 hours alone.

Kills two birds with one stone, pardon the phrase...

The mixing of households is suddenly reduced over the period in question, all under the guise of kids should remain in school.

Like I said, wouldn't put anything beyond them.
 
Todays (meaningless) 3 nations cases (minus England) is 1729 - give or take 2000 from Wales. Last week was 1946.

Deaths without the all settings from England (big add on usually on Wednesday) are 445. Last week it was 426. So it has gone up week to week.
 
Granada Reports suggesting a battle going on right now between GM politicians and local medical figures over whether GM should be in tier 2.

You can guess who says yes and who thinks it is too risky given these are being relaxed for 5 days next week anyway.

They are worried about mass partying this weekend if released which will only add to the problems over Christmas.

Unfortunately I think they are right to be worried as I don't see much likelihood this would not occur after release from tier 2.

Been no leaks yet and nobody knows what was decided today by government.

Though Lancashire expecting to stay in tier 3 and Merseyside in Tier 2. Parts of Cheshire still unsure.
 
612 deaths and 25, 161 cases. This is without the Wales 11,000!

A huge 7000 rise in England alone today.

26,000 more tests but that is a huge increase in England.

Tbh I think you’re a lot better off with the option of the pubs/restaurants being open than mass house parties

For the derby Saturday I must have seen 10 or so parties with 10 plus people on my Instagram

genuinely think there’s less close quarters, extended mixing when the pubs/bars are open

None are isolating at my daughters school, only 1 class since this’s school year started have been impacted and that was reception. So not all schools are the same as yours fortunately. They are shutting my daughters on Friday rather than next Tuesday and opening a bit earlier in Jan. I for one am pleased that the government stood strong on this despite pressure from the unions who wanted as much time off as possible.
 
Bad news with those figures - everywhere up - especially in southern England.

But the North West is now starting to go up big too, By far the biggest rise not in the south today to numbers the NW not seen for a month or so.
 
A further 612 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the UK, along with 25,161 confirmed cases.

This is a jump from the 533 deaths and 16,578 cases announced last Wednesday, government data shows.

The cases and deaths by nation are as follows:

  • Scotland - 689 cases, 38 deaths
  • Northern Ireland - 510 cases, eight deaths
  • England - 23,432 cases, 537 deaths
  • Wales - 530 cases, 29 deaths
 
Meanwhile another 1,000-1,200 have died from other causes including a fair number of undiagnosed illnesses no doubt
 
Regional scoreboard:

London 6777 - up from 4238 to highest ever.

East 3345 - 50% rise from 2294 to highest ever.

South East 4757 - another big rise from 3122

Total for these regions 14, 879 up from 9654 new record obviously.

Others:

Midlands 1935 - up from 1573

North East 801 - up from 406

Yorkshire 1368 - up from 1161

increases as you see but Yorkshire faring much better than the NW.


NORTH WEST 2164 - way up from 1576 and double the 1084 of 48 hours ago,

First total over 2000 in 3 weeks.
