I think it's a question of balance. If sufficient people refuse vaccination, then vulnerable people who can't be vaccinated are forced to play Russian roulette with their health, or effectively confined. Better to confine those who have a choice, perhaps?

There's also the issue of health service demand if refusals are high as we'd likely get sporadic very high spikes as outbreaks emerged.

But to be honest, it would be a nice problem to have. Until we have enough vaccine for everyone, we're all at risk.

I believe it is advertised on the gov UK website hopefully not.

I think the majority will take it up anyway. I went for a flu jab yesterday and the place was packed.

Honestly don't know the age data for all areas but I know that the growth in London is in the mid 30s to 50s age group

Probably find the average Chinese person doesn't need to sit down, ask the nurse where they're from, talk about the weather, and have a cup of tea...
Vaccinating the oldest was always going to be time-consuming, but the rest of the population needs to be done with military speed and brusqueness.

it needs to be done safely, with proper controls and review procedures, with a vaccine that has global assurance over its safety and efficacy.
 
Wales data up first today. Not good unfortunately.

Wales now believe these big numbers are because over 60% of cases are the new super virulent strain.

This is what is coming to the North West and your families very soon. A very unhappy new year.

Deaths 24 (up from 9 last week)

Cases 2761 (up from 615)

I would imagine they are loathe to give a definitive target as if they miss it they will have everyone criticising efforts. I read yesterday we have 400 centres now up from 100 a week ago.

Oh come on, that goes with the territory of being in government, whatever the political colour. The current lot give the impression of being frightened of their own shadows, hence the dithering and delay when it comes to making potentially unpopular but necessary decisions.

dithering over making unpopular decisions? They moved London onto Tier 4 24 hours after a scientific paper.

my point remains. Remember the fuss over the 100k tests a day?

They perhaps don’t know exactly how many they will get through yet.

It’s utter negligence that we’re not already in lockdown. A lot of people are going to die agonisingly close to their vaccinations and through no fault of their own. It’s awful. Christmas Day is going to kill so many.

It won't be a popular comment with some,but you are spot on with your stance.The Govt take full advantage of the Emergency/Public Services knowing full well that they can make demands of them without compensation or gratitude because the character of the individual will ensure they feel compelled to do so.
Its little wonder most are struggling with health or money issues,when,despite sacrificing much of their lives to the job,they get continually shat on.

It genuinely is a thankless task and its well past the time such efforts should be properly recognised.
