COVID Watch

Our biggest problem is that the current 9 cases could be 20 by Wednesday.

The Miami Marlins had a big outbreak in baseball and they went from 1 player to 4 to 13 to 20 over the course of a week.

If that happens to us our season is over.
This is something we should probably prepare for. The early speculation was that Cancelo and Ederson had tests come back positive this time around, which with Jesus would suggest it's spread amongst our Portuguese-speaking cohort. Add in one or two or two more and our title hopes are realistically over just given the number of fixtures coming up.

It really isn't as simple as just worrying about rearranging fixtures though is it? Our players are real people who could actually get seriously ill from this virus, how would people feel if someone like Torres (as a random example) develops complications and can never play a game again as his lungs end up knackered? Career over, we shouldn't be playing football during a pandemic, it is and always has been fucking ridiculous, this season going ahead coupled with the joke of the latter stages of last season are the main reason I won't be renewing, love of the game has totally gone for me.
The easiest way around that is let players opt out if they do not feel comfortable playing the season. in the NFL there is a few players who didn’t participate in the season due health concerns etc. If we didn’t play the games I highly doubt our squad made up of young rich men (with let’s face it very low iq) would be spending their time locked indoors.

No problem with the club taking whatever actions necessary to protect players. This season, like the last, isn’t meaningful to me. Forfeits and points deductions are preferable to me than rushing players back and having it spread more

Miami Marlins also made it to the playoffs. We just need to control the spread and once we know who is negative etc we can start working again

Put the fucking glue down.
Forfeit and points??? Why should we? It’s a global pandemic. The season shouldn’t have started at all. Having players rolling round in the sweat and spit of their opponent, yet having people around in masks is an absolute joke.

Whilst you have a good point, the reality is that a young player, like Torres (or indeed many players given their fortunes burning a hole in their collective pockets) will probably be out and about, not stuck in house, wrapped in cotton wool, waiting for the new season, should it ever start.

I'm classed as a key worker, have followed the rules and have worked through it all, so far. Some of us have to carry on, we can't all just hide and hope for the best.

Likewise mate, from day 1 my Wife and I have worked the lot, however in the grand scheme of things Football is meaningless imo, I've lost relatives to this and it isn't about hiding away, players will be paid either way, if they break the rules they should be punished and fined by their clubs. I'd love to have not been out working every day and having the worry my Mrs is going to bring something home from Hospital and give it to me or my Son.

This is probably the start of a lot of issues for teams. This isn’t football at the moment and is only being played for business reasons. Wouldn’t give a monkey’s if it was cancelled soon.
I do think people’s mental health should not be underestimated as well. The football to a lot of people is a great distraction and comfort for a lot of people. If the players are happy to play then I don’t see an issue personally

yes I agree. It’s been nothing like going but this year would have been even harder with no football.

the fear and stress we have gone through is simply staggering,we have a young son too
last season should have been abandoned but it wasn't,
this year went ahead, its time to postpone i fear out of respect to the people trying to battle this covid

Its like everything else this Govt has touched.....fucking and farting about and not displaying any consistency, some clubs have fans, some don't........while the virus is still wreaking havoc.

Its fucking madness
Have you been living in your own little bubble. Try having a look the rest of Europe.
Nobody has really got hold of this disease.
