This is not reflected in the data. The main driving force was the education sector. Which region has the most post-school students (one university has 120,000 students) and children of school age (over 3,000 schools)?

When London was in Tier 2 it had less positive cases and deaths than the NW. Often a quarter or third the number of deaths.

In terms of comparison, London is at a significant disadvantage because of the likes of pop density and housing tenure. Multiply the City of Manchester figures by 20 and that would provide a more suitable comparison than the likes of the NW region.
I thought it was spread from clusters in Kent to London due to work. It seems unlikely that the student population has much to do with this as most unis were working online and most students have gone home anyway. The student population density in London is low. Schools might indeed be an issue but from what I understood the age groups with the highest covid rates were young adults.

Where is that being reported Hp?
Daily Telegraph for one.

Vaccine overdose puts German care workers in hospital

Germany's Covid-19 vaccination campaign has been overshadowed by a mishap in the north where eight workers in an elderly care home received an overdose.
Vorpommern-Ruegen district authorities said the workers in Stralsund city received five times the recommended dose of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine on Sunday.
Four went to hospital for observation after developing flu-like symptoms.
"I deeply regret the incident. This individual case is due to individual errors. I hope that all those affected do not experience any serious side-effects," district chief Stefan Kerth said in a statement.
The incident came after some German districts declined to use vaccines received over the weekend on suspicion that cold conditions were interrupted during delivery.

Thankyou. I wasn't questioning your info, just my Daughter is in Germany in the Care sector and not heard from her today, a kneejerk reaction haha

That's OK I did not think you were.

I just was not sure I was allowed to post quotes from the media in here so I usually summarise if I want to mention something rather than link copy.

Worrying that several care home workers in Germany are in hospital with flu like symptoms after being given a huge overdose in error of the vaccine - five times recommended dose.

5x dose is the whole vial, 150 ug. I'm guessing they administered the whole lot rather than drawing up the prescribed volume. Each vial contains sufficient for 5 doses.

The phase I trial tested doses up to 100ug, and saw more reactions including the flu like symptoms described.

So obviously not good, but not way outside clinical experience. Unlikely to have a serious effect given that, let's hope so.

Watch areas:

CHESHIRE EAST

156 cases - equals highest yet. Total cases 11, 514.

Pop score up 40 to 2997.

Weekly Pop up 8 to 248.

Swansea 178 cases (down from 280 but that was 2 x days in one, so really up probably....it was 149 day before then)

Total cases 13, 330.

Pop score up to 5392.

Weekly Pop 522.

Today has seen the highest infection rate since the pandemic began. Everybody who went to the Trafford centre today should be ashamed. It’s not necessary to go and people need to get a grip. Pathetic the lot of them.

I think that shows negligence rather than any problems with the vaccine. Five times the recommended out amount of anything is bound cause problems.

Of course, but it will still dent the efforts to get maximum uptake from those who think it is some sort of way to control humanity or just plain scared of having injections.

Things like this will stop the vulnerable from getting it and that may literally kill some of them.

why is it even open?

Dont know mate, probably because we are tier 3.
Traffords infections rate has shot up in the last week, no surprise when you get these idiots looking for bargains.
They will be the first to complain when we go into tier 4.
Absolute muppets the lot of them.

I suspect it might have been as high in March/April but we were not testing anywhere near as many people then.

Both my brother and I likely had it then but the NHS told us we would only be tested if ill enough to go to hospital. I bet many were told the same.

Trafford had a better day today. Stockport though is going out of control.

For similar reasons I suspect - Christmas shopping.

Goodness knows where both would be if they had been put in tier 2 a month back when numbers supported that.

This is in action why tiers do not work.

You can only lock down if the same rules apply everywhere.
