The EHIC card, the health thingy when you go to Europe, is still valid to its
expiry date, mine is Oct 2023, the wife's, 2025, so as predicted it continues.
Next year the UK introduces a replacement, GHIC, to replace it.

Apparently the Eu has ensured that post Brexit UK will respect human rights by building a clause that Eu -UK agreements would be voided if the UK government leaves or violates ECHR.....

So Batty Patels proposal of bringing back the death sentence looks like a non starter.

What are Europeans like eh? Protecting us from the Tories even after we've left.
Good, but so much for taking back control ffs!

And if someone else's has expired or expires next month it can't be renewed.

Did you really need to tell the world how selfishly unaffected you feel?

Well mine runs out in April, so will it be replaced intime for any holiday this year. Again something not as bad as it could have been but not as good as it was. What's better than what we had ? Must some things.

I've had a brief poke at this thing about Patel bringing back the death penalty as it sounds quite alarming to anyone with a shred of humanity. Happily it seems it isn't at all true. I was alarmed to discover though that polling suggests almost 66%of Tories and about 31% of Labour MP's support it. I suppose in some ways it's only a slight ideological gear change from accepting abortion and self or assisted euthanasia so never say never.

Except abortion and assisted euthanasia are both personal choices whereas execution isn’t.

It's not all doom and gloom, we can always rejoin if there is sufficient public and political will on both sides - nothing is forever.

Indeed. Although execution is forever.

The deal softens the blow that we have to suffer and time will tell how badly people will be affected, but as long as the deal gets voted through, the worst case scenario Is kicked into the tall grass for a while.

I thought you wanted a clean break. Now you’re boasting that you will continue to benefit from an EU initiative. Which other EU benefits to you want to keep?

If it's expired, and you are abroad, a provisional replacement certificate
can be issued, just like it could last year, and the years before that.
This was the case whilst in the EU.
The point is, yet again, another doom scenario bites the dust.

So it will be replaced with a GHIC.
What system would you like to replace this one?

I'm boasting about nothing, just pointing out that this particular aspect of Brexit has been shoved down our throats by naysayers for years, in that it would cease, and travel To EU countries meant it stops.
And reciprocal agreements existed before we joined the EU, so it's a benefit
we had before, during, and now after membership.

Brilliant, do you have the link I'll apply.Anything for my list of what's better than what we had yet, struggling myself.
Just go to Gov UK, it's all there, don't worry your hols are covered.
And the benefit is that any fears you had by listening to the wrong predictions,
have now all disappeared.
