2020 was generally sh*t, but have you any/many highlights ?

Apart from making it to 2021.

I've worked from home a lot, and wasn't furloughed, and now don't really want to return to that normality.

We've saved a lot of money (lucky personal circumstances).

We've been many places we'd never have gone, mainly thanks to the National Trust when they reopened, but not just them, I completely by accident found a wonderful canal walk, and if you are ever in Gloucestershire visit the national Arboretum, it's wonderful in Autumn, even on a rainy day.

Somerset, even in one of the wettest weeks of the year, is a lovely place, a place I'd always driven through, having now explored it a bit, will go back as soon as I can.

We've lost several holidays, but luckily got back the money, the Seychelles being the highlight, will rearrange when it's possible.

We've missed family, but, when we have got together it's been more special than it ever was. We're completely separated from our closest family, missus are all in Scotland, our kids are in Manchester and Bristol, and the rest of my close family are in in Derbyshire, Cheshire, and Texas, but we've managed to meet up in the better times in summer. I normally see my son every 2 weeks or so (City), and we have a great time normally, last time we were at a game was Wembley, a highlight.

I'm glad 2020 is gone, and I'm not overly optimistic that this year is going to improve quickly, just want to stay healthy for now, but there are still things about 2020 I will cherish.

Hopefully everything will soon take an up tick for us all, but lets post your positives about 2020.
 
My grandaughter was born in January although I have only seen her a couple of times in the flesh I get a video virtually every day so I can see her growing. Thank goodness for WhatsApp.

At the other end of the "circle of life", I spent Christmas with my 92 year old mum and it was great to spend it at (her) home with only flying visits to relatives.

Yes been shite but don’t want to return to the old normal or else we won’t have learned anything. Just a new normal. How about learning a new way of approaching hygiene ? All this shaking hands shite when the person you are shaking hands with has just had a piss or worse without washing. So many things

‘Kin hell mate, how much is the beer in your local? :)
Certainly haven’t saved anything like that but it is noticeable, like having £50 in your wallet at the start of the week and it’s still there at the end.

Would you rather wake up with an empty wallet and sore head or a wallet full of cash and a sore arse?
 
Finally moved from the flat Fens to the hilly North. It was Sheffield rather than Manchester in the end but it's a start. Trips to Etihad cut by 2 hours.

Youngest lad however did a Tevez and moved from Salford Quays (overlooking you know what) to Ancoats, 10 mins walk from the Etihad. Felt proud.

Visited a LOT of pubs safely Post 4/7 while they were open and was humbled by the positivity and friendliness of young people. We have a great future.

I have a pal who even before the pandemic could go out with £50 and still have it at the end of the night, the tight fisted ****. He has four conservatories and a moat.
 
One of the good things for me, was that I started to go for walks around where we live. I always meant to but kept putting it off as something I would do later. I live in a beautiful part of the beautiful Scotland and found some lovely walks and met loads of horses, saw loads of deer and hares and rabbits. Although no lions or tigers or bears, which suits me as I've slowed down a bit, sprinting wise.

It was so much a help for the mind to be in a place you could enjoy. I will continue to walk more locally and be thankful that I can.

Both places will still be there when you can travel again. Most importantly, so will you. Happy New Year.
