I can see both sides here. Passed many joggers puffin and blowing in Heaton Park , Daisy Nook and Brookdale Park, always have to turn my back. They NEVER try to avoid you. However the family with 6 people always stay across the path, abreast. When I'm walking with my family and I see oncoming people I say "single file". Why the fuck can't others do it?

Got similar issues on the loopline (a shared use national cycle route) near me. Cyclists should keep left and joggers/walkers keep right and walk into the oncoming traffic (the cyclists)as you would on a road with no pavement. It’s a been a bit of a free for all during lockdown, when we are down there we try and use the path considerately but a lot of ppl just don’t give a fuck.

Have you travelled outside your area for the run, if so you have no right to run there.
No, in the legal interpretation Heaton Park is within my locality. Anyway, it’s time to move on. Hope you’re well pal.

Funnily enough they are even clarifying that I’m correct, and fine, on BBC at the moment due to the issue with these 2 women being fined yesterday.

Jesus, my wife's school are already appealing to parents for old laptops to be donated so pupils can have use of them and avoid them coming into school.

She had one mum this week who they know isn't a key worker trying it on, saying she needed to work from home.

A fucking call centre worker for Aviva.

So many 'parents' in this country do not perceive school as a treasured place of learning and discovery.

It is seven hours a day they don't have to think about them at all.

Wankers.

Don't deserve to have them.

Zero responsibility.

But 4/6/8 abreast is wrong whether we’re in a pandemic or not when anyone is trying to get past, it’s just bad manners.
Amazing how many walk abreast across a farm road and dont even acknowledge that some one using a crutch has stood to the side to maintain distancing. Surprisingly many mothers with teenage daughters

I’m a bit bemused by quite a lot of comments on here yesterday, I’ve driven daily through Stockport into Cheshire and to Liverpool, then to Bolton, Rochdale and loop twice a day, it’s very quiet out there compared to pre lockdown.
Shutters down everywhere.
At every point of arrival, there is no entry and contact is phone only. Can’t even use toilets.
On my way home I call in supermarkets daily and mask wearing is everywhere, trolleys getting sanitised and their not busy.
I’m out there in Cheshire Merseyside and Lancashire back to GM daily, trust me it’s honestly really quiet.
Correct.

there’s an attitude with some people that stinks that basically pins the blame for any rise in cases on other people.

it’s a virus, it spreads more easily in winter.
It is not possible to lockdown further beyond ordering all businesses to be banned from any staff attending which really would wreck those businesses and the economy.

I don't pass bum information on it was on TODAY's West Midlands news and also in the South West news. No its not the national figure which as you say is Monday but that doesn't mean it isn't reported at other times.

*All* this data has a lag, often several weeks rather than days.

R number estimates require the rate of change of infections; self evidently that's quite impossible between Tuesday and now when restrictions were imposed - infections aquired from Tuesday will not yet be reported as cases.

People like you should be locked up and key thrown away.

A work mates mum has tested positive yesterday I was with him yesterday and he lives with his mum. Does that mean I now get tested or do I wait for his test results ?

Sorry for asking but I cant keep up with what the government says ;(
I don’t think you have to do anything, only if your work mate tests positive. I assume he’s going for a test?

No, but you should isolate, and then only get a test if you start showing symptoms. However, you could always book a test and say you’ve got a symptom if it’d make you feel better.

Thanks line manager just been in touch the company want us to book a test today ( seems abit early but I guess she could have been positive for a few days a care home worker , but showing no signs )
And for us to self isolate and dont return to work until our results are negative

After hearing all these stories about companies telling their staff to go into the office and work I count myself extremely lucky the company I work for has been absolutely brilliant during the pandemic.

They managed to get nearly a thousand people across 2 sites working from home within 6 days last March. Anything we need like laptops computer equipment ect we can get delivered within 48 to our home address. They have even supplied everyone with webcams so when we have team meeting we can see and talk to our work colleagues.

They have setup support groups for wellbeing and mental health to make sure everyone is ok.

In my job a lot of it is back office work like emails ect but we do have to take calls from customers and other departments with the business however if you are a parent and your child is being home schooled they try to minimize how much time your on the phone So you can home school and do your job at the same time

I have to say reading about some of the things the police have done last couple of days, especially the incident in Scotland is absolutely disgraceful.
They are nowhere to be seen when your house gets robbed and your car gets broken into yet seemingly they can harass people in there homes and tell old grannies not to sit on park benches.
We are living in a police state and we have lost all our freedoms.
Disgraceful.
You are a 100% wrong,if we were living in a police state, we wouldn't be in the mess we currently are.
We might be run by dickheads but it doesn't mean we have to act and behave like dickheads .
If,by the time you become an adult you don't know what is right and wrong there is no hope for us all.
Everyone in this country is always pushing the boundaries and looking for loopholes to justify their actions.

The only way it can transmit is by people coming into contact with people isn't it?.

It spreads more easily in winter because people due to weather, tend to spend more time indoors and therefore nearer other people.

We are at a stage now that the economy has to take a back stage seat, so yes, we can and should lockdown even harder than we currently are. Too many non essential services still being allowed to trade is nonsense considering the state we are in, close those businesses for now will help

There does seem to be a big gap between good and poor employers.
I am pleased for you that your company looks after you.

As I moaned yesterday our company office have all been home working since march. Us minions havent been, we have been out and about in and around the public all the time.

We havent heard from our manager since march only when he has something to moan about. We have no policy in place for covid19. We had one very short 5 minute meeting in march telling us the office staff will be working from as they are at a higher risk being in the office.

No guidelines apart from we must wear a mask in the cab , and used hand gel.

We have no memo or calls asking how are we coping, NOTHING in over 10 months.
We are all very nervous and knacked and arent happy about being around the public ( or each other ! ) as the pandemic is out of control in the south east.

Got a text this morning 9:30 from our line manager that a workmate mum ( he lives at home ) that his mum has tested positive. So self isolate and book a test. As that is what we did last time but some managers thought we shouldnt have done that ! As soon as our line manager hears back from our manager he will let us know what to do. Line manager is still waiting.

As the weather wasnt great yesterday we worked around the yard so we were in the same area as the lad , even with our masks on.

You do know that they do a rolling estimation then stick two poles in the ground one week apart and calculate the average and standard deviation between the two points? They will do this for the previous seven days every day in each region. Lots of different counting organisations too. The Monday figures are the governments colated figures from many organisations as well.
The weekly data is not the be all and end all - except in your head of course.
Ring up BBC SW and/or BBC Midlands and find out where they got there information from. I'm only passing it on.

I gave you a link to where it comes from.

Here it is again.

It's based on data up to 2nd Jan. All before current lockdown.

They explicitly say it's not current:

These estimates do not yet fully reflect any very recent changes in transmission due to, for example, recent policy changes in the UK.

I'm not sure why you insist on contradicting facts put in front of you.
