I'm fairly certain Barry Davies is a Spurs fan. The fact is you would never have known as at that time the Beeb employed professional journalists.

Archival footage tends to highlight just how poor many commentators are nowadays.

Vicky Sparks yesterday wasn't great but was breath of fresh air compared to the usual agenda monkeys.

He gets a lot of shit because he turned out to be a bit of a nob behind the camera but you know who was the best co-commentator? Andy Gray.

Never showed bias to any team and was pretty enthusiastic about whatever game he was commentating on. He didn’t have that awful trait most modern co-commentators have where they tend to tut and moan whenever a team or player aren’t doing things well. His analysis was far ahead of what we’d heard before for the time as well.

Agree 100%. And Jimmy Armfield on the radio was excellent

I see some games on Bein, would agree with Andy grays impartiality. He calls it what is is regardless of the shirt (mostly)

No because it makes us look like cultists and Kopites.

If thousands of City fans are abusing someone for giving Dias a B+ on Twitter, it’s going to make us look like complete freaks and any legitimate further grievances won’t be taken seriously.

Thousands you say, hmmm maybe a dozen

He wasn’t a City fan but I think he once admitted in an interview that he was fond of City and the club’s eccentricity.
I loved his commentary of the Charlton promotion game where he opened with a reflection on the club’s “extraordinary history of brushes with fate” or something similar
"Manchester City's attempt to escape from what for them is the wilderness of the second division"

I see Mike keegan has called out sky’s impartiality when covering the Southampton v Liverpool match in the daily fail. It was only 2 short paragraphs but nevertheless a surprise.

“Those who tuned into Sky's coverage of Liverpool's Monday night trip to Southampton could be forgiven for believing they were watching the Merseyside club's in-house channel - because they were”.

“A gushing homage to Thiago Alcantara, who made his first start since October 17 in the 1-0 defeat, was lifted straight from LFCTV and broadcast to the nation, leading some to question the broadcaster's wisdom and impartiality”.
It pays to have fanboy reporters. If lfc had done to utd what they did to our team bus (For example) that would have been all over the news.

These clubs and their reporters create an uneven playing field sometimes

If it had been the other way around the media would have been screaming for us to be kicked out of the competition at the very least
