It's the same as not being offside from a goal kick or throw in.It is one of many ambiguous, not well thought out rule changes.
I agree it’s a stupid law, but it is the law and the goal was a valid.
It's a quirky rule but you have to know it.

He’s not talking about a goal kick.No it’s a dead ball if the goalie puts down the ball for goalkick
I don't think Grealish did anything too outrageous in his tackling, although he should have been booked for the foul on Walker, especially as Gundo got booked for something similar. All credit to the ref for actually knowing the rules and not giving offside against Jesus for the goal. Had to laugh at duck lips claiming the rules are wrong and it was offside. That was a massive win. In awful conditions, against a good team we found a way to win and another clean sheet. Foden was brilliant and Kev was superb - we just needed a focal point up front. They defended well and caused us problems on the break but we kept on knocking on the door. Thought Gundog and Bernie were excellent second half. Rodri played well too. Shame about Walker's injury. Grealish, talented though he is, is a dirty player and tried to injure several of our players including Walker. Sterling looked off form and should have done more. Jesus though rusty at least gave us a presence in the box.
All in all a tremendous win and the players deserve huge credit. It was a really good performance. We created loads and just needed some luck in front of goal. Eventually it came with that cracking finish by Bernie.
same for free kickHe’s not talking about a goal kick.
You say it's a crap rule but Mings had 3 touches of the ball and was pratting about with it. Rodri was initially in an off side position, okay, but he had been on side for about 10 minutes before he decided to tackle. Good rule rewarding the attacking team.Ha ha Tough shit. It’s a crap rule but it’s a rule and to say it’s tough on Villa coz they didn’t know the rule is pathetic from camel gob I’m sure if I know the rule and thousands on here know the rule then a professional premierleague team should know it. Best win of the season for me. Especially with Kev going off. Good subs too. Buzzing. Well done blue boys
Does anyone know when Kun is likely to play again, and what is the delay? I keep expecting him to be on the team sheet.Must admit I thought it was well offside, even went for a pee thinking it will be disallowed. Great win tho, get Kun back firing on all cylinders and we should walk the league.
I don’t think Rodri can be offside - Mings took possession so it’s another phase of play - Rodri can only be deemed to be coming back from an offside position if a City player passes to him - similarly if a defender plays a back pass to his keeper and an attacker in an offside position intercepts the pass is he offside - no because his team wasn’t in possessionNot our clinical best.........but great effort and 3 wonderful points and top of the fucking league!!!
The first goal was very generous given Rodri was offside, but fuck it.....we deserved some luck.
Now come on Fulham,Tosin defend like you life depends on it!
MOTM - Bernardo,but that's debateable give 3 or 4 other brilliant performances.
When was the penalty we got robbed of? I genuinely don't remember!
Was it when Foden looked like he got clipped?
That makes no difference anyway, players don’t ref games or make decisions, unless they are rags or dippers ...Wio is just a bitter dromedary gobbed shithouse...!Ferdinand saying no player on that pitch would have known the rules. Guess what Rodri did!
He was brilliant. And, please note, forward passes galore, interceptions and control.Seems Rodri is the only one who knows the rules!
He’s not talking about any form of free kick, ffs.same for free kick
