It’s always the same.
When we are out of lockdown “Prime Minister why haven’t you put us in lockdown and close the schools and pubs?”
When we go into lockdown “Prime Minister why isn’t the lockdown harder?”
After a few weeks of lockdown “Prime Minister why aren’t we opening the schools and pubs, why do we have to stay in lockdown?”
When we come out of lockdown ”Prime Minister why haven’t you kept the lockdown longer?”

Its so predictable and like being in the nine circles of hell
Pretty much summed up the past 12 months or so of press questions. At least the ones about PPE have fallen by the wayside and don’t forget the ones about we need notice before you close us down. Right you have five days notice is usually followed by either that’s not enough notice or it’s too much.

It's groundhog Day. The press have been shocking throughout all this with very few exceptions. They have helped to demoralise the public, thank God we didn't have this whole shower around in WW2.

so far today we've had;
Taking passports away from someone who hasnt, to our knowledge, broken any law
chiding all youth as being useless
press are scum (multiple times)
some strange ideas about locking people up
putting down (killing) entire families
plenty of stuff about Germans and the EU

it's all gone a bit authoritarian/jingoistic on here lately - i think perhaps stress is getting to some

The main problem is that there was nothing to have a briefing about. It was clearly called solely because the figures hit 100k, and it's therefore inevitable that there would be questions based on that.

Johnson tried his sub-Churchill speech pattern and then waffled inanely in anything he tried to answer. Someone give the man some full stops to end sentences!

I think the stress is getting to s lot of people understandably. To add to your list I'm just waiting for the "Man up/get your fanny wipes out" brigade to pop up, warming up for the match day thread tonight.

Unfortunately when they said in press conference that most areas were falling significantly but some were not what they meant was the North West and primarily Greater Manchester.

It was not all that great of a day here. Numbers actually rose by more than they did across the entire North West. So as a result the GM % of the NW shot up in just one day from 34.2% to 36.7%. That is a rise from 29.1% in just a week.

So numbers have levelled off or gone up in GM today.

Not drastically but nowhere near what you would expect given the massive fall in cases in recent days. To rise even modestly in that period is a little disappointing. Though hopefully a blip and this will turn around as single day data is not in itself that meaningful.

Stockport had the worst day in GM today and actually clocked the worst Pop Score increase of the ten boroughs which is pretty rare as it often is near the best given its size. Nothing catastrophic. But stubbornly staying well over 100 cases when most other boroughs have fallen below there.

Not panic stations. But the North West and Greater Manchester is coming down in patches and some locations are still stubbornly sticking up there more than you would expect.

10, 000 cases fall in 48 hours (one third decrease) But in that 48 hours Greater Manchester's numbers actually went UP. That rise was driven over those days by Bury, Salford and Stockport.

Manchester itself has had a good few days though and actually had a lower Pop score than all the above. Other boroughs stay low with 6 under 100 again today.

But GM is I suspect being monitored for why it is not doing quite as well as most of the rest of the country seems to be doing.

Hopefully that will change in coming days.

Full scoreboard later as usual.

In layman’s terms, the EU have been slow to order and approve, are now refusing to pay until delivery guarantees have been made and are also threatening vaccine companies about deliveries to the UK until they get what they want?
If true it sounds like bully boy tactics to me, just imagine the outcry on here from the usual suspects if the UK government was behaving like this.

Vaccinations seem to have noticeably slowed in the last couple of days, I expected Sunday to be down, especially with the terrible weather, but yesterday a working day, and the weather was nice in most places, and yet the number vaccinated yesterday was 40,000, lower than 10 days ago.

The roads were still knackered to a degree yesterday. My parcel delivery was delayed by a day because of the backlog from the weather on Sunday/Monday.

I know its The Mail, but, apparently Cats and Dogs passing it on to humans is a significant long term risk and they eventually need to be vaccinated.

Good reason for a cull. ;)

They certainly would if badgers were carriers.
